Not at all. Well..I take that back. It should be proportionate to what you are making the party spend on their gear.

No. The main event here is the rehearsal, not the dinner. Since people are busy, a lot of your attendents will appreciate a rehearsal in which dress is "come as you are" and food is something quick and easy. I think that "fast food" burgers might be going a little too far, but a well prepared burger is a legit dinner.

You don't have to have a rehearsal dinner. Rehearsal dinners are not a must and they are really only meant for formal weddings and are thus meant to be formal so if this was your plan for a rehearsal dinner then I wouldn't bother. And yes, even for a rehearsal burgers and hot dogs are tacky. It does not sound to me like you are rehearsing, just looking for an excuse to eat out.

No the rehearsal dinner is only meant for immediate family & the wedding party. It's so you can tell everyone what is expected of them for the day & to go over everything for the wedding.

Hot dogs and burgers are kind of tacky. But if your family will have no problem with it, then do what suits your styles. May I suggest a nice and homey italian restaurant. Or consider making dinner yourselves.Nothing too fancy, just something that's not hot dogs

No way! Not tacky at all. Actually, most of the rehearsal dinners I've been to were just buffet-style in someone's home. They don't need to be at expensive restaurants.

I think it depends on how formal you are going with the reception. My fiance and I are having a traditional reception, with a sit down dinner and dancing in a formal hall, so for our rehearsal dinner we're having ours at the upscale lounge at the local MLB stadium-something offbeat and casual and fun.
I don't think that the rehearsal dinner should be more formal than the reception, so I think yours sounds great!

We are having the same thing for our rehearsal dinner. Our families are pretty casual and we want everyone to have a fun time. We have already had people say they really appreciate it being not too stuffy.

Not at all!!! We just had everyone over to our house after the rehearsal and ordered pizza. We sat outside at the picnic tables and just enjoyed everyone being together. Hamburgs and hot dogs sound fine to me.

Nope, not at all. That is what i wanted to do but my future Mother in law insisted on taking the whole bridal party to some fancy resturant.
