Your wedding ring goes on first on the ring finger of the left hand followed by your engagement ring.
The reasoning is because this finger contains a vein that goes straight to the heart, called the vena amoris.

Wedding band is first, engagement ring goes on top OR on the other hand.
Remember, not everyone get's a ring for engagement, so the wedding ring should be closest to the heart.

The band is always closest to the heart.
The engagement ring comes off and is put on as the set with the band going on first.

Traditionally the wedding band goes first and then the engagement ring. They like to think of it as the Wedding band being worn closest to the heart or something like that lol.

Putting aside the "closest to the heart" thing, I think it also depends on the rings. My engagement ring is much larger than my wedding band, so I am putting the wedding band on after it. If you are thinking symbolic, I actually like the idea of slipping the wedding ring next to the engagement ring during the service, so that is what I feel is symbolic to me (he asked me to be his wife first, then I became his wife). Do what is personal to you.

the wedding band is first because it is closest to the heart.for the woman if there is an engagement ring then it is next.many couples prefer simple bands and that works too.it is the commitment that matters not the jewelry .good luck.
