I am getting married for the second time and I am on a tight budget. I was just wondering if it's appropriate for me to use items from the first wedding, such as the cake server, guest book pen, stuff like that, nothing like the dress.

Sure, go for it...recycle! I'm all about saving money where ya can...spend those extra dollars on your honeymoon or your place together. ☺

I probably wouldnt. I am planning my 2nd wedding for next july and I kind of would feel a little weird about using stuff from my first wedding, no matter how trivial they are.
In fact i am going out of my way to make it as different from the first time as I possibly can!
I would try and trade the guest book and pen, see if someone has an old one you can swap for.....I guess nobody would notice....I just feel a little weird about it. But i guess, when all is said and done....it is the same bride.....so why not recycle.....hmm

I dont know if I would do that. I think its sort of bad luck using things from a past relationship or marriage in a new one. Little things like that can be found and shouldnt cost to much. Go to walmart and you can find some pretty nice wedding accessories that arent expensive. If not, ask a close friend or family members if they would like to help out by getting one of those items for you. Im sure they will help out. Good luck!!!

sure, why not? my cousin got married again and wore the same darned dress! she loved her dress so much and her groom is so tight-fisted he thought it was a great idea! imagine that? first wedding was christmas so gown was very formal and trimmed in fur and had sparkles all over it like snowflakes and a full fur cape with fur hood. ugh. then her next wedding was in the spring and she wore the fur outfit again! it was very warm out and here she is tricked out in a full fur getup. then her one bridesmaid was hugely pregnant and the other one was skinny as a rail. and the groom wore sports jacket and dress pants!
looked like a real white-trash wedding.
just don't go that far and you'll be fine!!!!!!!
good luck and happy wedding

Why not? A cake server has no symbolic value. I wouldn't re-use the rings or something like that - but I feel it's totally fine to reuse the mundane items.

As long as your fiance doesn't mind, sure!
Don't try to hide that kind of thing from him though because sure enough "Aunt Lucy" will say something llike- Oh isn't that the cake server from your first wedding? or something ...

Yes, I would. Why buy new stuff when you can reuse what you have? Those things are trivial anyway....the guestbook pen no one notices...cake server? ....again, no one but you and the groom notice. If your groom is fine with it, go for it! Good luck!

I wouldn't wear the same dress or use the same rings....definitely not. The rest of the stuff is ok, so long as you don't think people attending your wedding will notice!

Better luck this time!!

sure. no one will know or ask if you don't mention it. i don't think that petty things like a pen, cake server, or other misc. junk will make a difference. if you are really unsure about it, check out tjmaxx, the dollar store, and sales aisles for other fancy pens & cake servers.

Cake server, seems fine.
Guest book (new pages) and pen, go for it!

No dress, no unity candle or cake topper for sure LoL!

Congrats and good luck

Sure, why not. None of those things have sentimental value, go for it. It's a good way to save money.Like you said, it's not like it's the dress or anything!!
