My mom brought us a big box with pretty paper plates and napkins that matched, toilet paper, paper towels, and dollar bills rolled up and tied with ribbons.
My inlaws got us a subscription to our favorite newspaper.
It was fun! And totally unexpected.

Many things can involve paper, if you want to go with tradition. If so... maybe take wedding pictures, or get involved with the other mother and get photos of childhood and make a scrapbook. They will probably think the gift very nice since time and love go into scrapbooks. It could be a present from both parents. If you don't live near by, maybe talk on the phone with the other. Or have one buy and the other put together depending on who has more time vs. who doesn't and could purchase. Other ideas are love and marriage books. I am currently reading The Five Language of Love. Very well written and wonderful incite as to how to communicate with your spouse the best in order to make them feel as loved and secure as possible. Although these are ideas from me, I am sure you can find something perfect that they will love or put your own twist on things, to make it your own. Good luck.

this is the "Paper" anniversary and this would be proper! right this is something ingenious which would be favorite and you have exciting doing: Make up a crossword puzzle and have each and all the tricks be own interior moments and jokes that purely you 2 would understand approximately. positioned it on a poster board and upload some clipart and a few photos to it! The crossword puzzle would desire to be time eating and slightly complicated ... you are able to desire to do the comparable concept with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle. positioned your computer qualifications to artwork! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo photos seek, replica them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to positioned on posterboard. Use graph paper, and photos from magazines in case you're actually not as sturdy on the computer, and it will supply it a selfmade feeling.

Paper is the 'traditional' first anniversary gift, the "modern" first anniversary gift is plastic/ clock.
Perhaps a nice clock would be a good gift?

Im not much into giving what the anniversary says. Try this website if you want something special and different. I gave my mother one and she loved it. This is their wedding page, but you can go from there
http://www.chimesofyourlife.com/Weddingwindchimes.html
This company sells wind chimes that you can have inscribed with your feelings, blessings, and love. They have a great selection of sizes, colors, wind sail shapes, and they even give you examples of things to say if you cant think of something.

maybe you could make them up a photo album with any pics you have from the last year of them and family.Beside all the pics cut out messages from catalogs saying funny, silly, happy things about each pic. This makes it a keepsake and they'll enjoy the time spent toghter remenising. Goodluk!

If you want to do something paper to keep with the tradition, how about getting each of them a subscription to a magazine suited to their interests? They could enjoy it for the whole year. :-)
