I'm nervous about putting on my dress on the wedding day. I've always put on the shoes, crinoline, bra first and then had the dress put on over my head. I'm having my hair and make-up done before I get in my dress on the wedding day. One friend suggested that I step into the dress and then put the crinoline on after. Any suggestions?

I work at a bridal store, I dress brides all the time.
Put a clean sheet down on the floor so your dress does not soil. Place the slip on the floor. Fit your dress over top of the slip. Step into both and have someone help pull them both up. After you are secure, just have one your maids, or your mom get underneath the gown and fluff you up. Good luck!

I had the same problem. My dress was strapless and I had double crinolines and was not going to be able to put the dress on over my head once my hair was done.

The night before the wedding, put the dress and crinolines on. Take the dress off where you step out of it. Before pushing the dress down too far, safety pin your crinolines to the inside of the dress. Step out and hang the dress up.

On the wedding day, after your hair and make-up are done, have your bridesmaids help you get the dress down where you can step into it.

PS> bring some clear fishing line and a needle in case of any lest minute dress problems. My bustle loop broke and my sister-in-law made me a new one with fishing line!

Good Luck!

I've never heard of or seen a bride put a dress over their head. You always step into it. Not only because of the hair and makeup issue but because they are usually heavy. Put the crinoline on first and have someone help you step into the dress.

I like the idea of stepping into the dress... not sure if you can with all dresses- my friend had 5 girls putting her dress over her head to make sure nothing was touching her hair or make-up. She was fine after they did it, her hair wasn't touched, and neither was her make-up....so if you can do that, that's fine too I'm sure! I'm not sure if I can step into the dress I got, but I'll have to try just incase! :)

You definitely need to step into it, and have your MOH and bridesmaids help. That is part of their job!!
