I can't afford to buy my fiance the hammered finish ring he prefers right now, so I was considering buying a plain ring and having a hammered finish added later. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Please, no obnoxious answers about taking a hammer to the ring myself.

This is my second wedding and my fiance and I are footing the bill. It seems the dresses I like are beyond his comfort zone and a few friends suggested thrift stores as my next shopping trip... Wouldnt that be saying our wedding day isnt worth a few hundred bucks? Isn't that some sort of bad luck as well??

My mom and I have always been really close, she loves my fiance and she is giving us 10k for the wedding...but she is not helping at all! Everything I say I like, she hates. Everything that I find is too expensive! She hasn't made it to any of the appointments that we have set up and it's starting to get to me. I know she wants to be there, and she means well but it's really starting to bug me! I don't know why she is so distant and disagreeable! Could this be because she doesn't have a happy marriage? Is she stuck in the 70's price range of things? It seems she is so against my wedding sometimes.

My cousin is getting married next year (she's 25) and she has only been engaged for two months and our family is asking of very stupid, rude, and just plain insensitive requests. She and her fiance chose a date that was significant to them and what would work best-- but everyone's telling them to change the date. They're saying she should have thought of everyone else's needs and not just hers. And everyone is telling her who she can and cannot invite, who she "will" invite, what she "will" wear, etc. She called me last night just bawling her eyes out!
She and I are around the same age and I think she needs another person to support her in all of this. First of all, are our family's requests absurd? what should she do to try to get through this without offending anyone? what can I do (as a bridesmaid as well) to ease this stress? How do we tell our families to respect her wishes and what can I do to help her build that confidence? This is supposed to be a happy time for her, not sad!

Me and my co worker were good friends and dwe got engaged a few days apart. I was excited because I thought that we'd go dress shopping together and what not. Well the opposite happened and now she is really trying to make me feel that my wedding does not matter saying things like "Well, my wedding is before yours anyway!" (Its a few months before.) She also borderline brags about her wedding being cheaper...so far...than mine. And everytime I say anything about my wedding its "wrong" in her eyes. She'll also get judgemental asking me questions like "Why are you doing that!?!?" My dress was WAY more expensive than hers and she critized me on that saying, "I only spent $99 on my dress! You were a fool for paying that much!" As if it isn't MY wedding. Im not sure what to do about her. help.

Hey

I'm having a hard time with this one. I don't know what to send to friends for their wedding.

I live over seas and I'm not sure what I can send them via mail. I'm thinking something light, something that'll pass via all those rules for shipping things via over seas. And something that won't break the bank. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Or are people just too uptight planning and during weddings? I have seen people rip others apart over what looks like innocent little miscues. The wedding itself might be the most special thing for the bride & groom & the mom & pop but the process up to that point seems to bring out a nasty side in people.

My fiance and I have been planning on getting married on 8-8-08 at 8pm... but we have also talked about moving it up to the end of this year... the other night we were talking about it and he suggested getting married this halloween... he wants to do a costume wedding and we would dress as Shrek and Fiona (our favorite movie... as well as our pet names for each other) and have our attendants dress as chracters from the Shrek movies as well???? At first I fell in love with the idea... but I'm afraid people will think were stupid... becuz it is our WEDDING... and of course its suppose to be a memorable day and it would be... it would be something nobody would ever forget.... so why do i feel like its a dumb idea when I want to do it???? If you could help me and give me some advice as well as your oppinion on the whole thing it would be greatly appreciated.... thnx

My brother has been invited to a wedding for a co-worker he used to be very close to. He won't be attending the wedding and wants to know if $50 is an appropriate gift to send or if he should send more.

I should also mention the groom works part-time under my brother and therefore probably knows how much money he makes.

I think $50 is fine considering their relationship but other thoughts would be appriciated!

Thanks!

Thanks!

My parents can afford to pay for the whole wedding, but because we are adults, and can also pay for it, we are footing most of the bill ourselves. But now that things are "getting down to it" they are acting like they can't even lend a hand at all. I know they can afford it, and I think that they are basically acting selfish. Is that right for them to do? My fiance's parents are paying for their part, we are paying for the other stuff...can't they at least pay for some of the Bride expences? Really would like some advice.

What are all of them?
Did you use them in your wedding?
What did you use to stand for each one?
Do you know where that whole idea came from?
What all are they supposed to mean?

I need to find proof from a reliable source to answer the question “Do high school couples loose their scholarships?

The question is NOT:
“how unwise it is to marry while in high school or at such a young age.”

I saw a recent report that some brides are setting up photo shoots to intentionally trash thier wedding dress after the honeymoon. Some were jumping in mud, going scuba diving, paint ball, etc while wearing the dress. The brides in the article said it was a huge stress reliever, plus they got some great pictures. I like this idea, but I have been married for some time and probably don't fit into my dress anymore. If you are a potential bride, would you consider such an option?

A lot of people on here ask about songs for walking down the aisle to. I always thought people walked down the aisle to the tradtional, "Here comes the bride" or variations of that. But, i'm starting to believe that people are walking down the aisle to more mainstream, popular songs.

Is this right? Or am I confused about what these people are asking? I'm Catholic, we are only allowed to walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding music.
