The day after the wedding sure. You get great candid pictures out of it that are much more personal that the usual formal zombie shots. It's clothing ladies. It can be washed!
After the wedding what do you really need it for anyway? So your daughter can wear it? If that's the problem then get it cleaned but also keep in mind that styles will change alot before your daughter gets to it (if you have a daughter) and she probably won't want to wear it. Did you wear your mom's dress?

I have not seen anything on this but it sounds like something I'm going to look into!!! I've been trying to figure out what to do with my dress and I couldn't figure it out-until now maybe!! I don't know if I'm going to have children and I know that my dress is too simple for both of my sisters taste. It got dirty on the bottom because I was married on the beach and I'm not sure if it will come clean. I really think this is something I might do.
I know this is a waste of money but I was going to donate it to charity anyway and after having such a horrible wedding day, this seems like just the thing to make me feel better!!!!

I am not doing either. My dress is being cleaned and then donated to one of those charity wedding dress drives. That way someone else gets to wear the gown and feel as beautiful as I do in it. I certainly don't need it anymore and I enjoyed it while I had it so my feeling is that someone else should get to enjoy it too. I think if anything you should do the photos. Why preserve the dress when someone else could wear it or you could enjoy it? All they do it take up space. Good luck!

I saw that report as well. I thought that the pictures were quite beautiful, but as for my wedding dress, i won't be doing that. I paid too much to ruin it...lol...even if the pics are nice. I think for me, the main reason I won't do it, is because i want to be able to open my closet and look at that dress...i also would like to try it on periodically to see if i can still fit into it...lol...i still do that with my prom dress ( which i can't fit into...lol)...I may even save it for my daughter (when I have one that is)...but if thats what you want to do, do it...i think those pics they showed in the report were really nice.

I've seen this and the pictures are wonderful. But, I would have to think about it, a lot. Most likely the dress will be a complete lose after all that. If you want to save it, this is not the option. Even if you don't want it now, you might change your mind later in life. In 50 years, you may wish you had your dress to show your grandkids.
It's probably something I would never do, but I might research it a bit. Just out of curiousity.

I'm getting married in middle age, and so will not have a daughter to pass my dress down to, nor will I ever wear it again. However, I cannot imagine trashing it. It is a symbol of my wedding, and by extension, my marriage. To desecrate the dress would feel like I was trashing my marriage. I'm a sentimental fool...

HAHA that's completely hilarious and I've never even thought about that idea before! I would totally do it had I thought about it a year ago when we got back from the honeymoon but your doubts are right about doing it some time later.
Who knows though, it might be fun to do on an anniversary down the road or something?! I mean, my dress is still hanging in the bag since the night I took it off... never cleaned it or anything!! haha, might as well get some extra fun out of it... who says you only get to wear that gown once??? ;-)

No, I am too traditional to imagine ruining my wedding dress. Considering there are so many discount bridal places that sell dresses for as little as $99, I would rather buy something like that to trash than my own real dress.

NEVER. My dress is a cocktail style dress (my wedding is small and informal) and can be worn again for other occasions, there is no way that I would be so tactless as to trash it, my mother paid for my dress as my wedding gift, how would she feel if she saw her hard earned money deliberately ruined? It would be awful.
