Looking for a nice place in Chicago or South Suburb to have a reception. A banquet hall is fine but I really need a place where I can bring in catered food. I am trying to cut cost on my reception.

Let's make this simple

My Gma (my father's mother) asked me eight months ago if my brother could escort her to her seat at the wedding. I said sure, why not? A few weeks ago, my mother and I were talking about escorting and I mentioned that Gma wanted my brother to escort her so I was going to have the best man escort my mother. Mom flew off the handle and started ranting and raving that my grandmother was trying to take the 'important' role for herself and that she thought it was really inappropriate that SHE wasn't being escorted by my brother. I didn't think it was a big deal so I agreed that my brother could escort her rather than my Gma. I called Gma to tell her the news and all of a sudden SHE flies off the handle and starts ranting and raving about how the grandson is supposed to escort the Gma etc. My 20 year old brother is a bit shy and doesn't really want to escort either of them and definitely doesn't want to escort BOTH of them. Any ideas on how to handle this?

My dad has offered a sum of money to put toward my Dec wedding...but he wants me to use his credit card in place of just giving us the whole amount on a check. The problem is that when I call him to ask for the card to make a wedding purchase, he complains about having to pay interest for the next 10 months, when the wedding is. I would rather just have him save the amount and write us a check to use at our discretion, than have to keep calling every time we need to reserve or buy something. But I don't know the right way to ask him without seeming ungrateful.

Anyone have some sites where these are available? All I can find are sleeveless or totally strapless gowns.
David's Bridal offers the ability to 'add' sleeves to strapless gowns but they are all sheer and totally useless.
Don't any women that buy wedding dresses have tattoos on their arms that they want hidden at their wedding???

We're getting married in August of this year, and I just found out that the place we're eating in isn't air conditioned. This is changing what we were thinking of having for a light lunch. It was going to be a hot meal, but now we're thinking more on the lines of cold lunches but all we can think of is a cold cuts buffet. Any other ideas that would be nice for a wedding? Or additions onto a cold cuts buffet that would make it a little classier?

This is also an semi-formal wedding, and the lower price the better!

Thanks!

My fiance and I are getting married 5/5/07 and we each have three attendants on each side. All three of my girls have gotten their dresses for the wedding and are raring to go. Two of his groomsmen have done the same with their tuxes. The problem is that the third groomsmen. We've tried numerous times to get hold of him and he never returns phone calls or answers his phone. The wedding is less than two months away and my fiance is starting to wonder if his friend will be able to stand with him at all. The guy is a long-time friend of my fiance's but my fiance is worried the guy won't tow the line in time. Should he start looking for another groomsmen or wait?

I am getting married in July of this year, and was fortunate enough to purchase a really beautiful gown, at a really great price. I purchased the gown before the wedding date was actually set, but didn't have any qualms about it until now. The gown is a satin A-line gown, with long sheer sleeves, and beading detail on the sleeves, however, the back of the gown is open until almost the waist area. The ceremony is to be outdoors (if it doesn't rain), and the reception to be inside (under the air conditioning). Do you think that I will be too warm in this gown, and maybe purchase another, or do you think I will be able to survive the heat? I don't want to look inappropriate. Is their a rule about long sleeves in the summer? Previous brides, I'd appreciate your help! Thanks.

I have a very dear friend who is getting married next fall. Her husband-to-be presented her with his mother's engagement ring. It's a lovely gesture but the ring is absolutely godawful ugly and doesn't suit her at all. She truly appreciates the thought but she has to wear it for the rest of her life and she hates it. However, she doesn't want her husband (or his mother) to feel as if they are being spurned. Any ideas on how to handle this?

I don't want to wear the traditional gown at my wedding I was thinking a nice skirt with may be a little corest top and maybe a light jacket. I need web sites where I find this. Now I'm only 26 so I don't want to look like I'm an old lady's with the white dresses headed for Sunday church. What web sites do I need to search in?

Can someone reccommend a great Bed & Breakfast or cabin location in the state of Missouri from experience. I have a close friend looking for a honeymoon spot. They would prefer to do a secluded cabin together in the woods, but they are also looking at the bed & breakfast option as well. Thanks

Ok....we got engaged 2 years ago and last year he bought a set but it said absolutely nothing about me as a person....it was flashy and just the complete opposite of what I would wear.....plus he takes care of his mother because she is sick instead of being there for me and his son....when it comes up about buying our rings he always wants to do it himself....but I want to do it together I think it should be something we do together that we both like...I think there are some co-dependency issues between him and his mom...but I had had enough when she was helping him pick our set.....So what does everyone else think should I give in or am I right that she has no business involved in the decision??

Should I have a long, medium, or shoulder length veil with my dress? My mama thinks a long one would be most elegant with this mermaid-style of dress.

This engaged guy I know is leaning towards having some kinda fling before he gets married. Things seem to be contingent upon that magical cut-off of the wedding date.

Here's the thing: I thought this was cliche, something for tv and movies. Are people really doing this? And, is the belief really that one is getting it out of their system before marriage and that the urge to be with another person is going to disappear in the 30 seconds after the vows are exchanged?

I'm thinking, maybe Im wrong, but if someone cheats in the few months before the wedding, maybe they should not be getting married at that time? Or is this some "stress reaction" that's seen as excusable??

We are being married in June at my church, we're just wondering how much $ to give the Deacon who is performing the service. We've paid $75 to the church, which everyone being married there is required to do. I know it's customary to give the priest or other clergyman a token after the service right? In case it matters, I've not been a member of this church for very long so I haven't formed a really close relationship with the Deacon, although he's very nice and has helped with the wedding very much.

Also, do we "tip" the pianist? How about the photographer?

I live in the Midwest U.S. if that helps with a dollar amount!
