I don't really want to do the Vegas thing, but I like the idea of eloping. What are my other options?

How about Pigeon Forge TN, Alantic City NJ, Miami FL, Dallas TX. Just about any major city. Just depends on what you want to do and see while your there.

Niagara Falls has a lot of eloping-friendly things.

I would think any tourist spot would be good, Key West, Hawaii, I even had friends go to Cuba to elope. He was fascinated with the coutry, neither of them are Cuban.
So go where you are drawn. Somewhere that will be suitable for you to have fond memories of.
Anywhere with a courthouse or chapel (though you may have to stay for a week or however long it takes them to do the paperwork prior to the ceremony.) or a scenic location that you love.
Good luck!

I'm sure there are plenty of places that you can elope...as far as I know the state of Nevada is the only state that has instant marriage licenses....if you decide to go for another state you may want to find out about waiting periods on marriage licenses..I know in Iowa it is a week!! Also there are some states that require blood tests and counseling.

Good Luck

e·lope /ɪˈloʊp/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[i-lohp] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used without object), e·loped, e·lop·ing. 1. to run off secretly to be married, usually without the consent or knowledge of one's parents.
2. to run away with a lover.
3. to leave without permission or notification; escape.

Basically, you can elope anywhere - - you just don't tell others you are doing it.
Many people get married on boats by the ship captain or on some island (like the Bahamas).

Gatlinburg, TN has the most beautiful little mountain wedding chapels. Its not all commercial and cheesy like vegas either. Very quaint and quiet and romantic. Plus, you're already in a beautiful setting (without prostitutes and gambling and bright lights) so its like a wedding and honeymoon all rolled into one.

One of my friends eloped for her second wedding and they went to the Bahama's! She said it was so beautiful...and by looking at her pictures of it...it made me want to do it (couldn't convince my fiance to do it though)!!

I think you can elope to anywhere you'd like there are just those certain places that you hear about more often!! :0)

Any where in the world you want to go. Most places have great spots for newly weds, whether you like the country, the mountains, the beach or whatever. I think Vegas is a little too tacky for REAL marriages anyway.

Gatlinberg, tn. It's beautiful there and they have quite a few chapels. Maybe a cruise or somewhere in the Caribbean. If nothing else just go to the courthouse.
