Okay, here's the deal. My fiance and I are embarking on our wedding planning adventure. We're planning to get married in the mid-Michigan/Lansing area.

The church is in a very small town with limited reception choices. I have two "top" banquet halls that I'm looking at reserving. However, one is about twenty minutes south of the church while the other is a half hour west of the church.

The closer banquet hall doesn't have any hotels within a 10-mile radius. However, it can hold about 300 people and it has very flexible alcohol and catering policies. This hall is slightly more expensive.

The banquet hall west of the church is more of a hike and only holds about 180 people. It has about 5-6 hotels just about a mile down the road, which is super-nice for out-of-town guests. It's also about $400 cheaper to reserve and includes a Friday night into Sunday morning rental. It has an open catering policy but a restricted alcohol policy.

Which one makes more sense to book?

My wedding is going to be in October and I have no idea what I am doing!!!!! My dress is a stapless Aline, its chanpange with beading and lace. But I dont know what I wasnt beyond that. I kinda want rich bold jewel tones because I think they are just awesome but my other half is a little bit opposed to that. He says I need three colors too. Does anyone have any site that could point me in the right direction? Or any other help you give me thanks!

I've looked online at all the generic Chicago websites, but I want to find an outdoor wedding location in Chicago, preferably something on the water. Does anyone know of any good spots or links to websites or pictures of these places?

I want to have the ceremony and reception at this beautiful local park. But it is popular, so I don't want a lot of people around us. How can I reserve the park or maybe a section of it for a few hours? Who would I call?

while I know my fiance wants to have a nice elegant shower in a banquet hall, nothing too fancy but better then folding chairs and cheap tableclothes.

I had a conversation with her offering to help and get a nice banquet hall and she proceeded to get defensive. I know she is broke, its no secret so I would pick up the difference to have it at a nicer place. The argument escalated and she tells me "I shouldn't have made this phone call"

This is obviously something that has been building up, but I am sticking up for my future wife against some woman who nobody has ever stood up too. Am I wrong?

I am about to get married in about four months and me and my wife to be are in a heated battle about how many people should be in the wedding. I have three good friends that I want to stand up at the wedding while she only has two. She fears that people will think it will look strange if there is three on one side and two on the other. Also, my third friend will be playing a classical guitar when people are walking in so there shouldn't be anyone who walks alone. He will then stand up and join us in the line as soon as everyone has fell in line. She also believes that the pictures will turn out bad and doesn't want him in the formal pictures. I just don't want to upset my friends even though I am upsetting my future wife. PLEASE HELP. If anyone has advice or a good answer please help.

I saw this question after it had been answered and REALLY wanted to respond. I don't think there is a way to do that is there?

Anyhow, the answer that I wanted to get back to the asker is - the "tradition" of a diamond engagement ring is actually a "new" tradition - less than 100 years old. Thank the De Beers company - aka the diamond producers - for a brilliant marketing plan. They got all the famous people to start using diamonds for engagement rings - and now "everyone" does it.

Actually, the more traditional stone is Sapphire - which comes in a variety of shades. Blue, of course, is best known. But they come in a rainbow of colors.

Anyhow - I don't think there is any way for me to share this info except to ask a question, is there? I checked and the original asker doesn't allow contact, so I think this is the only way?

I have waited too long to order my bridesmaids dresses. Is there anywhere I can order from with more like a 3-4 week or even 4-6 week delivery time? or is it too late??? I had originally wanted to order Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses but they take 12-16 weeks to be delivered and then alterations!
