Marriage is about the joining of 2 souls and sharing that day with those who love you. Anyone who loves you will be there for the celebration. Offer whatever you can afford. There's just way too much commercialism and expectations in today's world. It's about the celebration and your new lives together. Enjoy and don't worry about what people think. Cake and something to drink is fine.

I think that sounds great, especially for a morning or afternoon wedding...you do want to be mindful of guests, if you have a late afternoon wedding, they may be hungry for dinner and not stay long for the reception.

What about appetizers for a reception, I went to a friend's wedding and they did appetizers on the cheap and it was great. But if you really don't want to have a big giant all-hours-of-the-night reception, coffee and cake sounds very nice.

Sounds good to me!!! If you have the money you might want to splurge and get a few different dessrts, like cookies and pastries, but its not at all needed. I would also suggest that you make it an abreviated reception maybe only lasting at the most 2 hours.

Have a wonderful time!!!

I have been to weddings like that. They are just a beautiful as all other weddings. Some people can not afford to buy food for the guest. I have been to potluck weddings too,

I've never heard of that, but I think it could be nice...sounds like something you'd have in a garden setting

Go for it! It's about whose there to share the day with you, not about the food, do whatever floats your boat.

I think you should just have a ceremony only then. Some people see that as a way of just trying to get gifts/money.
