Call your county's parks and recreation department, usually listed in the front of your local telephone directory. If you can't find that number, the business office of your local police department will know where you should call. You can get THAT number from your phone directory also. Please, under no circumstances, should you call 911 looking for that information.

City Parks and Recreation department if in the city, otherwise there is the county equivalent.
You will NEED more than a few hours to set up and take down a ceremony and reception in a park. How about having the photographer take your PICTURES in your wedding clothes in the park. Hold the ceremony and reception in a nearby church or other hall. The pictures will take even less time than a few hours and your guests will have adequate parking.

I'm getting married in a garden / park too! Call the Department of Parks and Recreation, try looking online first. I found out prices, the phone number, where the office was located etc., on my city's website. I'm not sure about all cities but mine had banquet halls and and buildings, one of which we also rented for our reception. It will cost to rent the park but not very much, our's is something like $200 (for a 4 hour block of time).

Contact the city, township or county where the park is located. Tell them what you want to do and then ask them what restrictions are, what the rental includes etc. I know in our city the city requires an insurance liability policy. Also, consider the time of day you want your ceremony because that will have an impact on the number of people in the park. Plan ahead too for weather, walking to the location (dirty shoes, mud etc), chairs, music or what ever you have planned. Most of all, ENJOY your wedding day!

You do need to call your local recreation center and you should early the morning of the wedding, put up a big sign or two saying reserved for whomever and put the time and date on it as well. You probably could tape off the area that you want as well, but not sure if the ones in charge will let you go that far.

I think that is a great idea. My fiance and I are doing the exact same thing. You have to obtain a permit and depending on what you have (chairs, gazabo, arc, etc) will determine how much your permit is. You need to call the park and ask the ranger. If the ranger doesn't know then he can direct you to who will. We looked up our park online and contacted them that way. A few weeks later we have our permit. The area will then be reserved for you and you will have the authority to (nicely) ask anyone in that area to leave or give you privacy. Good luck with your wedding and congrats!

I googled the name of the park we wanted for our wedding and was provided with a website full of phone numbers of people in charge of reservations. The Park we selected is also very popular but we were assured that they would put up reserved signs around the area we wanted. Usually people don't disturb you in these situations (family reunions, weddings, etc.) If you are not able to find anyone to contact just be sure to make signs indicating that it is reserved. If we have any wedding crashers our plan is to make them help clean up.

Depending on weather its a state park or a city, park you have to ask the chamber of commerce or the city manager. But to be sure call the city offices, if they don't help. Call parks director, or a city council member and keep after them until you get an answer. Good Luck

I would find out who oversees the park,( like the city park commission) and reserve a space for your ceremony and reception. They are usually pretty accommodating when it comes to special occasions and can set up blockers around the area and reserve signs for tables. If all else fails, try your city hall and they can refer you :)

go through the yellow pages online and search for the Parks and Recreation Department of your city/town. You will need to contact an official. They may wish to charge you a rental fee especially if the park has amenities for hosting celebrations. They will also inform you on guidelines: alcohol consumption, clean-up, smoking areas, hours of operation, and parking.
