No one to blame but yourself if it turns into a freak show.

A friend of our did this and it was fine. We even had trick or treaters show up at the ceremony. No one made a big deal about a theme or anything. It was just the last Saturday in the month. It is totally a good idea. The after party though was a dress up Halloween party.

Halloween is probably my favorite day of the year, but there is no way I would plan to have my wedding on it. I think it would be just a bit cartoon-ey/caricature like for something as special as a wedding. MAYBE if it were my second marriage I would consider it, but definitely not for a first. Just my opinion. I wouldn't want to have guests showing up in a diaper as "Baby New Year" or "Elvira"...kinda takes away from the wedding.

i'm getting married myself on Halloween in 2008, there's nothing wrong with getting married then(in fact i know 3 other couples who will share the same anniversary as my fiance and i).. if you don't want to do the pumpkins, ghosts, vampires type thing you can always do another theme with it, or have no theme at all! i've seen quite a few wedding photos of Halloween weddings with elegant fall themes - using pumpkins carved with monograms of the bride and groom's names and last name, silk leaves at the tables with white or ivory candles, and candy apples for favors.. the ideas and things you can do are limitless(well, almost, a Christmas-ish wedding on Halloween would be a bit odd)..
if you are wanting to get married on Halloween go for it, to heck with what others think... but as it was stated above, finding a sitter for kids would be hard, but if you include them you could have little trick'o'treat pumpkins on a kids only table filled with candy for thier favors(along with coloring books and crayons to keep them entertained)
good luck planning!

i am my own person and i do exactly as i [legally and morally] please in my life, i wouldn't go for the typical ghost and pumpkins but i would have an old european castle motif, very eeeri yet it can elegant, soembody can get or paint a mural? with heavy metal candelabres around, pewter goblets to drink from, a midevil type of meal, swords on the walls, lots of candles and pig with the apple in its mouth, start thinking 'old castle' from now, look in magazines for ideas, mabey a knight standing in the corner, this is not too halloween but still eeerie and spookey! and your gorgeous dress can be midevil,

Well, your husband would be able to remember your anniversary. That is good. Halloween is just another day of the year to me. It could cause problems for your guest to find sitters though.

Sounds like a blast to me. You can use films such as Sleepy Hollow or Brothers Grimm for inspiration to get a more elegant feel than the campy vibethat everyone says you will automatically have instead.

Do the guests get to dress up and are you going to have an open bar?? If not, I wouldn't show up! Halloween is for dressing up like an *** and getting drunk off my ***! Don't ruin a perfectly good holiday!

Do you want to be handing out candy or taking your kid's out
trick or treating on your anniversary? Also your guests might
have conflict between going to your wedding and celebrating
Halloween. If you don't care, have it on Halloween, it's your
day. I think it's kind of spooky!
