well to begin with not very many do ever wear he dresses again they usually sell them during prom season or to second hand stores to try to get some of their money back from it. but to try to avoidd that have the bride pick out the color of what she wants them to wear and have the bridesmaids pick the style and the price that they want, most companies anymore use the same color pallet so you can get any dress in any style, at any price range that they are wanting to spend (usually under $200) in the color that the bride wants for the wedding colors. and as for shoes if they have some at home already that would work let them wear them no one really ses the shoes anyways if the dresses are florr length.

Brides now days are trying to be nice to bridesmaids.
They let them pick the style of dress so they will be comfortable and look for dresses that they could wear again so they can get more 'bang for the buck'.
They don't want to have four bridesmaids that hate their dress and will spend 200 dollars just to wear an ugly dress they won't wear.
I think bridesmaids in current time are able to wear their dresses again.
It's the old eighties bridesmaids that can't wear theirs.
I loved the one I wore and would wear it again if I were in high school going to homecoming or prom but right now i don't have an oportunity to wear a facy dress though i'd love to.

I actually heard on a wedding tv show that it's tradition to pick out a dress for the bridesmaids that they will only wear to the wedding, and nothing else, so that it stays special???? I wonder who thought up that one!!
Many don't re-wear theirs since the dress wasn't something they really liked, wrong cut, wrong color, or just too fancy to ever wear again. I also know quite a few dresses just "look" bridesmaid-y, but modern ones look more like a nice prom dress, I feel. I've never been in a wedding besides my own, but will be the matron of honor coming up in July, and we're getting dyed shoes and all that, so I am hoping to wear it again, since it is going to cost so much!

When I got married my bridesmaids picked out the dress they were gonna wear. They all agreed on one. It was easier that way because they were a lot of money, and the girls said they would wear them again if it was something they liked. I know 3 out of my 5 wore them again. I was just in a wedding and the dresses were pretty, but they were simple and red. So when it comes time for christmas i have a dress.......i think it just depends on the type of dress (style wise) and if the bridemaids like them enough to wear them again. Brides do it thinking if the girls are gonna pay for a dress they should get more then one wear out of them.

The maid of honor in my wedding wore a dress she'd worn as a bridesmaid, it was the perfect color I'd wanted. Of course I had a low budget wedding, but if the dress is nice enough it can be worn for another occasion. I don't think the brides actually intent for the ladies to re-wear the dresses, I think they just pick what they like, after all it is their day.

I am getting married next year, and I sent my maids pictures of the style I was looking for, and let them know what color it was going to be. That way, they can decide amongst themselves, what type of dress they want. As far as picking one they'll wear again, I figure why spend $150+ on a dress your never going to wear again, for a wedding thats not even theirs? At least this way, the next time they go to a wedding, they don't have to worry about what to wear!! My MOH has been a bridesmaid soooo many times, she re-wears those dresses to any wedding she's not actually in.

So they're not asking their bridesmaids don't spend that money for only one day. I was a maid of honor and I won't wear the dress again, though in my case it was a bridesmaids-y and it didn't suit my body type well.

It is better to be thoughtful and at least make an effort to pick a dress that can be worn again ... instead of something that will only collect dust in a closet. I know of a lot of bridesmaids who do actually wear their dresses again.

Well, I am taking a diffrent approach with my wedding. I am having 4 attendants. I told them the color they were to wear and where they were gouing to get their dress and I allowed them to pick the dress they are going to wear. The reason I did that is bc I have very skinny attendants and also plus size attendants. I know that the same dres might not be flattering on both sizes. I will look at these pics for the rest of my life, I want my girls to look good!!
NOW, having said that, I think that all of my girls (except my maid of honor are planning on selling their dresses. My maid of honor (on the other hand) does frequently wear things like the dress she will be wearing and DOES in fact plan to wear it again.

When planning with my bridesmaid and maid of honor I INSISTED that they pick out the dress they would like to wear. My only requirements are that they would wear it again and that it was a solid blue color.
