No one in my family has been married and his parents were married in a catholic church. I've asked all my friends and family and none of them have a clue. I'm lost. Please help!

Ok, I'm getting married soon and my fiance's family...well they like to drink...a lot. I've already refused to have an open bar at the reception, but house wine and draft beer are included with the meals because many of my fiance's relatives won't come unless there is alcohol. I wouldn't care about their drunken exploits except for the fact that a lot of people in my family don't drink at all. I don't want my reception to turn into a drunken mess. And honestly, the main culprits are his parents (I've seen them at weddings before). Is there a nice way to ask my fiance's parents to not get drunk at the reception?

I'll take any and all advice I can get!!!!

Son getting married to Brazilian girl in September. We have no idea what sort of outfits are suitable for mother of groom and sister-in-law of groom. Are hats worn? Are different outfits required for the reception? What length are dresses/skirts? Any no-nos regarding weddings that we should know about?

i have at least 30 cousins, and 3 grandparents still alive plus my immediate family..
my fiance only has his dad in this state, his grandmother in queensland and aunt and uncle in western australia, and his mum and one sister in new zealand and other sister in england.
So it will be a long way for them all to travel, and i will feel bad if i have family there and he doesnt. I'll also feel bad if my family doesnt get to come.
What would you do if you were me? It's not going to be a big formal wedding, but it is meant to be special.

My boyfriend and I have been together for two years now. We have a great relationship and we hardly ever fight. About 6 months into our relationship we realized that we loved each other and he said that he wants to get married and have children. Well, in the past year I have been metioning it and he would always have two or three reasons why we couldn't. Most recently the excuse is the he cannot even get me a ring becuase he was not money (even though he just bought tickets and a hotel for us to go to the formula one races.)
To me it seems like he is not thinking about how I feel and that he is being very selfish. What do you think?

OK so what do you do in this situation?
We are getting married out of state in Florida. Obviously most everyone wont be able to come to the ceremony, but do we invite everybody anyways? If so, how would you word something like that? Then we are having a reception/party here at home at a later date. Do I do a wedding invite and the reception invite together? Seperate? Or JUST a reception invite?

I'm getting married this summer and it is formal. I'm definitely going to have tuxes for me (obviously), the best man, groomsmen, future father-in-law, and ring bearer. However, I wasn't sure about my dad, stepdad, and my future wife's stepfather. If there was no money involved, then fine, everyone can get a tux. However, my dad is poor and has not been a regular part of my life. Also, my stepdad has helped me out more than my dad, but I'd hate for him to have one and not my real father.

I read everywhere that for a formal wedding, the groom's father must have one, but I think it's a waste of money for two stepfathers, and my dad to rent one when all they'll be doing is walking in and sitting in the front row. I don't understand that. Please don't give me the pictures speech either. It's not like they'll come in street clothes. They'll still be in their "sunday best."

What do you think?

Hello. My fiance and I are planning on getting married in January of 2008. We live in Minnesota and so we are flying down to Florida to get married. I want to have an outdoor reception back home for my family and friends but because of the weather here, that wouldnt be possible until at least May. Is this OK? I have heard of this before but my fiance thinks its weird. Please give me your opinions!

I live in Columbus Ohio, and I have everything! well.. almost everything
I have my wedding dress, i have my brides maids dresses, i have my dad to marry us, my cousin to play the piano, i have my moms friend to co-ordinate us, i have my friend to do all my girls, and my hair, a lady at my church to cater my food at the reception, and i have my friend to DJ us for the reception... you would think i have just about everything.. well..

It turns out ive been so busy, that i completely forgot to find a church!! A lot of people are saying that i should get married out side, but being out side.. in the middle of July.. in a huge dress.. I'm not sure of many people who are fans of those things put together.
I also remembered that I dont have a wedding cake!! I kept reminding myself that i needed one, and now that i'm looking, i cant find ANY that aren’t 700 + dollars.

Can anybody please help me?

I am sending out my wedding save-the-date magnets soon. The magnets have only our first names; most invitees know about us, but there are some who may need to be 'reminded' of who we are: ie, our parents' friends or long-lost friends whom we haven't kept in touch with for awhile. Is there a cute/proper way to let them know about us/who we are? For example, write a short note in there saying, "Hi, it's me, Jane Doe. I'm getting married!"

My finace' & i choice to get married in Maui in July and have invited family and some close friends. There are about 20 people coming, everyone is being totally cool about and are very excited to be coming.Only problem is my fiance' sister n law. They dont have alot of money,I mean they arent hurting for anything but they definitley had to save for this.We told everyone about the wedding about a year and a half ago so people would have plenty of time to save what they needed. Anyways, whenever we talk she brings up the fact that flights are so expenive and basically complains about the everything. I try to be sympathetic but its just really getting on my nerves.i dont want to not get along with her and i dont want my finace' to have to deal with it b/c he is really close to his brother but its really makig me feel bad. They are coming out the day before the wedding and his brother is going to miss alot of stuff. We even offered for them to just stay with ous a couple of days b4 the wedding
