OK so i want my bridesmaids to have black dresses for my wedding, i am just torn on the flower colors. I have my heart set on a red bouqet of roses, but i don't know what color/kind of flowers my bridesmaids would have that would complement. but also i really like dark purples and light purples for flower choice, i just don't know if i want a purple bouqet over red roses. waht do i do any suggestions

I carried an all red rose bouquet and my bridesmaids had smaller red roses but not many and white day lillies. They were beautiful and very elegant looking. By the way there is absolutely nothing wrong with black dresses. My girls had black floor length tafetta gowns with a deep red sash that tied in a bow in the back and then flowed to the floor. Black dresses show class and elegance if you ask me as long as they are the right style and the flowers compliment the dress. Everyone was upset that I chose black until the day we all were next to eachother. It also really lets the bride standout if your dress is white.

Gee, do they have to have black. That's just so dull and sombre. However, if you are wearing white - or are you wearing black as well? Ok, now I don't know what to answer. If you are wearing a black wedding dress, have red roses and LOTS of white baby's breath. If you are wearing white (?), red roses and greenery.
For the girls in black, a combo of red and purple - can work if you get the right floral choices, with white and greenery.
Everything tied together.

Congrats on your wedding. I wouldn't pair a black dress with anything that's too dark or the overall effect will be a little too gothy. Rather, I'd pick a lighter color or combo of colors to create contrast with the dresses. You could even go so far as to throw some white in.

The more you contrast against the black dress, the better it will look in your wedding photos as well.

You go ahead and carry Big Gorgeous Red Roses and let the gals wear black dresses and carry small white flowers. After all they are just decoration, but you are the focal point!

How about orchids -- they will compliment the roses and you can pick pale purple/white ones. Go to a good florist and look around - you will be surprised what they can recommend also.

i was thinking about having my girls dresses black, and them just carrying one big pink lilly down, kinda like a baby.. then i decided on then wearing pink, and their carrying down one big white lilly.
