No one in my family has been married and his parents were married in a catholic church. I've asked all my friends and family and none of them have a clue. I'm lost. Please help!

Yes they can. You can have it done at a court house. Yes you need an appointment..you want to make sure the judge will actually be there. They may have one day out of the week that the judge only does weddings. Call your local court house for details

Yes ,you must make an appointment. Depending on how large your town is, you might have more than one judge that is available to marry you. They don't always charge the same price, either.
You can call or ask when you go to get your license. A judge can only marry you in his jurisdiction.

If you would decide to have a small intimate wedding someplace other than the courthouse.....................
To find an officiant type into Yahoo your city, state & wedding officiant (no 's' on the end) You will have a few to choose from, usually on the 2nd page. The larger bridal sites seem to get top billing. If you do go to the bridal sites, please visit the site of someone you think you might like. Those bridal sites make vendors & officiants pay for your contact info so you may not hear back from someone you'd hoped.

Yes, a judge can marry you,but you'll have to arrange that by calling his/her clerk to make an appointment.

Go to the justice of peace. Call ahead and schedule an appointment for a ceremony (it will be pretty unformal), and thats all it takes.
