My bf & I have been together for 5 years. Even though we are not financially ready for marriage i cannot help but think about getting engaged all the time. I keep wondering what is taking him so long to propose since we are practically married anyways (i feel ready for that next step). I would be content on getting engaged now and waiting 2 years or so until i am done school for the whole wedding thing.

(we already live together and we are still quite young [almost 21 & 22)

Are there others that feel the same way as i do?

obviously there's the invitation itself, but what are all the other things?! like reception cards, and response cards (ok, so i get that one) and what not?

and another thing about wedding papers, who actually used a program for their wedding? i know i've seen a lot of people saying they have, but i don't think it's necessary. (then again i don't think it's necessary to have a lot of other things either, like place cards...i think people should sit where they're comfortable...)

basically i guess i'm just asking what are all the papers that are associated with weddings, other than the license, invitaiotn and response card? and how many of them are actually necessary, or good to have?

We are having a very informal wedding, and I'd like something simple. All the major bridal websites have dresses that are way too fancy... need something a bit more informal.

Why when I asked the question about same sex couples getting married did everyone assume it was me ? It is but why did everyone jump to the same conclusion.

We are having a place for gifts at the wedding; however, I'm guessing alot of people will opt for a card with a check or something since we aren't registered anywhere & they know we are funding our own honeymoon.

I don't want anything tacky that screams "this if for money!" because I don't care if I get any, cash or gifts for that matter, but I still don't just want to lay a card down on a table & hope it doesn't get lost.

Any suggestions on how you've seen it done or you've done it yourself?

My future sister-in-law won't let us have our wedding at this one place we like because she wants to have her wedding there. She claims to have "saved" this location first and that we are copying her. Right after we got engaged, we weren't able to find anything else that fit our criteria. We asked her about it and she said it was fine for us to have it there. After we booked it and put a deposit down, she changed her mind and says she won't forgive us if we have it there. A few points to note 1) it's only a ceremony location, we are having the reception elsewhere 2) she's not engaged 3) she didn't offer any other solutions and insists this is all our fault. All this drama is causing everyone in the family a lot of stress. I'm not sure what to do. Am I wrong to think "You can't call shotgun until you see the car"?

What do you think about a man getting married to a man or a woman getting married to a woman. It is now legal in the UK.

What does everyone think of a candy buffet and candy favors. What about personalized M&Ms placed in indvidual wrapped boxs/bags as favors. I'm helping my friend plan a wedding. She wants to do this, but isn't 100% sure I think it's a great idea, but some people think the candy buffet is tacky. She plans on having both a dessert table and a candy table. Some people are germaphobs and don't like their candy all out in the open. She plans on having scoopers for everyone to use when they collect their candy. Do you think people will have a problem with this

Has anyone seen this at a wedding? How did it work and what was the reaction from guests.

Me and my fiance want to someplace that is a reasonable price but somewhere we can have fun. We love to drink, dance, riding ATV's, and want to stay where there are beautiful views!! Some place that has a crowd around our age (25-30).

Thanks!!

So I've worked out what I want served during the cocktail hour, and during dinner, now I'm a bit stuck on the late evening snack. Is it ok to have platters of assorted deserts, tea and coffee? Enough for everyone of course. I guess I am a little worried about people at the wedding saying I don't have all sorts off stuff out. Should this worry me?

I'm having a traditional Vietnamese wedding where the dinner consists of 10 dishes. Usually this takes up all the space for a centerpiece, but I don't want the table to be bare when guests arrive. So, what type of centerpiece would be nice and portable where we can move when the food is served?

A friend gave me some left over favors she had and they are really cute- they are little watercolor sets that really work. And they have a little loop at the top of them. I am tying charms/favors to the bridesmaids packages so I though this would be cute for the guys. Me and my FI are both artist. I was trying to think if a little saying to write on them but I can only come up with something girlie like
"you color my world"
Any ideas on what I could write for the groomsmen using a painting reference??
