Here is my problem...a good guy friend of mine (and childhood friend of the groom) has a wife who had me in their wedding. Now it is time for us to get married and I am not too thrilled about having to ask her to be in the wedding because her and I are not that close. We hang out with them quite a bit, but her and I don't really have a close connection. The reason why we are not so close is because she tends make everything about her. She doesn't really treat me like a friend, more like a competitor. Anyway, my dilemma is if I don't ask her, I know she will be hurt and so will her husband, who is my friend as well as my fiance's. If I do ask her, I have to put up with her half-a$$ed help and talking about herself and what she did at her wedding the entire time, comparing hers with mine in a negative way. What should I do! I know we will be friends with them forever because of him, so I really don't want to offend them over one day. Help!

I have 5 bridesmaids. One is 25, others are 17, 14, 10 and 7. So I was thinking, as I was trying to save a lot of money, whether it would be a lot cheaper to hire all of the dresses rather than have them made or brought. Plus, it is the typ eof dress I know that will never be worn again, and I don't want to waste money. x

Looking for instructions...maybe a website. Just bought feathers and vases and want to ensure that they are done correctly. Help...
I heard of foam inserts - are they necessary? How do you ensure that the centerpieces do not tip over?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

As a follow on from my last question (where is the best for engagement rings) thank you for everyones help. A few points. I know she is not with me for the money, she has been with me from the beginning even before I had any. I want to pick it because I intend to do the romantic on one knee proposal with the ring. Because of this she will see the box when I dramatically open it (gotta love a showman!!) hopefully on top of the eiffel tower. Walmart, for an engagement ring, are you kidding and target.....I don't even live in america and I know this is not the place to get an engagement ring from.

So anywho, my question is how much do the cartier rings sell for, I have looked on the website found one or two that she will adore, what price range do they fall in to? Thanks again

My fiance and I are engaged to be married on our 5 yr anniversary. We already have a 3yr old son, a dog, and have just bought a house. I am only 20 (he is 21), and I don't know if I want to be with him forever. We are very compatible, and he is my best friend. He knows more about me than anyone else, and he takes care of me like no other man his age EVER could. He bought the house, is paying for our wedding, I have a nice car, and I don't have to work. As spoiled as I am, I need more attention from him, not from the things he buys me. Are my feelings coming from nervousness because of a fast approaching date, or is it my hearts way of telling me to keep searching? Am I just looking for an excuse for something to be wrong?

Background info:

My sister and her family lives in Japan and can only visit for long extended stays during the summers (she's a teacher).

My fiance and I LOVE autumn in Chicago...want a wedding October 4th, 2008.

As you can see....that's not a summer month. So the chances that my one and only sister (who I'd love to make a bridesmaid) and my lil nephew (my ringbearer) are very slim.

Both parents continue to say "Why can't you have your wedding in the summer?" Summers in Chicago are comparable to hell....high humidity, lots of tourists, and so many weddings to compete with.

My sister said she has a long weekend on October 4th....so she could possibly fly in Thursday and then leave on that Sunday (but coming from Japan...that's no easy feat). My sister said "Monica, don't let me dictate when you should have your wedding...but to think I would miss my only sister's wedding."

Ughhh...what do I do? Summer '08 or October '08. I love my sister! I love autumn!

Does anyone know the correct seating plan for the top table? Do you split up the parents of the bride and groom or do they sit together?

My boyfriend is inquiring about the type of ring I would like....I know a proposal is upcoming soon. I love tension set rings and I expressed that to him a while back (just jokingly), but now he really thinks that's what I absolutely must have.

But seeing the cost of tension set rings....I don't want him to spend thousands of dollars on it.

What is the range of tension set rings? And for one to look good, how many karats does the diamond need to be? Have not found a store that sells too many tension set rings, except online so I wouldn't know what looks good.

Does anyone know of good stores, online sites, etc that are reliable and good for tension set rings?

I am getting married on August 25th, but we can not find a minister. We are having the ceremony outdoors in Rockport Texas. We live in Wisconsin for now so we don't go to a church in Texas so it is hard to find someone to marry us. We are getting marrried there because my fiance is from Texas and all of our family is there. Any ideas?

My Fiancee was at a bar (not strip club) and had a random waitress sit on his lap and she gave him a kiss on the cheek with his arms wrapped around her (saw this in a picture). We're supposed to be getting married in a little over two weeks. We set ground rules of things that weren't appropriate for the parties. The night of the bachelor party I said no more kisses after he kissed me for the last time. Now his best man has deleted the pictures after I asked for them and it seems to me that they were incriminating pictures or they would still be on the digital camera. Should I cancel/postpone the wedding?

What is more important to you...a wedding photographer that is well known, has lots of previous wedding experience and charges a lot of money or one that has only photographed one wedding, but has done more with nature photography and is more reasonable in price? Thanks for your answers in advance.

My fiance's parents are very traditional- the husband is the man/dictator of the house, you buy one house and live their your whole life, divorce is never an option, and they are very strict and conservative (but two of the sweetest people I know, too). My parents, on the other hand, are divorced and hippies! My brother is gay and I'm not sure how they'll take that either! It reminds me of how the parents clash on Dharma and Greg (if you've seen it, you know what I mean)... except my hippie parents are quite THAT extreme. What can I do to make this all go smoothly? My fiance and I know that because we accept eachother's families whole heartedly- that's really the most important thing. I just want our parents to get along too!

Pros for head table: Get to sit with our wedding party, not isolated from guests and other tables, is the accepted traditional way

Cons for head table: Our wedding party will be separated from their dates, parents/family will feel left out at another table, most of the head table will be empty due to us travelling around the room and wedding party going to be with dates (I've seen this happen at other weddings)
----------------------------------------
Pros for sweetheart table: Will allow wedding party to sit with their dates, give bride & groom time with each other and their DINNER!, can be empty so wedding couple can go table to table

Cons for sweetheart table: May be viewed as selfish, untraditional, and tacky, puts too much attention on couple, guests feel uncomfortable (these are the comments I've read about)

I want a sweetheart's table, nothing too elaborate...just a table for us to sit at. Please tell me your thoughts, suggestions, etc...want to know what you think.
