As a follow on from my last question (where is the best for engagement rings) thank you for everyones help. A few points. I know she is not with me for the money, she has been with me from the beginning even before I had any. I want to pick it because I intend to do the romantic on one knee proposal with the ring. Because of this she will see the box when I dramatically open it (gotta love a showman!!) hopefully on top of the eiffel tower. Walmart, for an engagement ring, are you kidding and target.....I don't even live in america and I know this is not the place to get an engagement ring from.

So anywho, my question is how much do the cartier rings sell for, I have looked on the website found one or two that she will adore, what price range do they fall in to? Thanks again

I don't live in UK or the states so can't just pop in and see the prices!

Thanks for your advice blunt, I think your name is very fitting! I wouldn't say I am ignorant, just want to make sure that my gf gets the best of the best. I don't usually shop at cartier because I don't believe that obscene amounts of money should be spent all the time. But for when I propose I want it to be special. If you don't believe that your significant other should have the best of the best then I feel that it is you who is truly ignorant

I'm sorry blunt I missed the middle part of your response! I cannot just pop into tiffanys because there is not one where I live, however just before xmas I was in new york on business so I purchased some things from there, when I do go back to London I always go in and buy by gf something for when I get back to our home. I hope this satisfys your queries about my question being bogus.

Cartier is just a jewelry store brand. You have to look for a diamond that has the desired CUT< CLARITY< COLOR< CARAT on a desired band :platinum, titaniam, yellow or white gold, mounted in the selected style: solitaire, bridal set, etc.

There are different diamonds in different price ranges depending on the above. Therefore, there are different price ranges whether you go to Cartier, Tiffany, or whereever. You should expect a big mark up for designer brands of course and you have to pay for the prestige of buying in such places.

For a person that "says" that you had "purchased" several other things at Tiffanny's (according to YOU in your previous question), you are CONTRADICTING yourself by saying that you cannot just "pop-up" at Tiffanny's to check the prices...

so...which is is it going to be? you either had bought your gf several pieces there or cannot pop-up because you are not close to a Tiffany's?

You are quite IGNORANT. If you have to ask what the rings in Cartier goes for, more than likely you don't even know where Cartier is.

This question is so bogus.

I did the whole one knee thing at the bottom of the Eiffel tower in the new year. I spent the customary amount at a local jewellers. The box that it came in was far from cheap and tacky (it was so substantial i had trouble hiding it!!!). I'm sure the local jewellers will be more than willing to help you design and then make for you a custom ring, probably for a fraction of the Cartier price for the same.

Good Luck

HA HA! Cartier? Lets just say- its the ring or a high rise apartment in Manhattan. besides they are a little God-y in my opinion. You might want to try Tiffany's- every girl loves seeing that beautiful blue box in her lover's hand. Its very classy! and not as expensive. And you can pick and choose which you like best- the cut, the base, etc. Trust me- you can't go wrong with a Tiffany diamond. Look at the site below- it will tell you what to look for in a ring- also it will show you approximate prices for rings- you can get a gorgeous ring for around two grand. you dont need a $14,000 ring- thats not what its about.

The Cartier ring I have ALWAY had my eye on cost £15,000...

My fiance can't afford that kind of stuff... but hopefully one day I'll be able to treat myself

There is a store along Old Bond St (London), Selfridges (London, & Birmingham) and various designer retailers across the country. I'd suggest you have a look in their or on their web site.

My dad got a Cartier braclet and ring set from a jewellers in Hatton Garden, the whole street does some really nice jewellery there.

Good luck

Right now I realise you ARE serious I still say if you can afford this outrageous amount do it through a reputable Diamond Merchant, pick your own diamonds (read up on diamonds first) and get the ring made especially for her by a top jewellery designer. I know you are not thinking this way but if you do have that kind of money it is easy to walk in to a shop but when she hears the effort put in to her getting the ring she will appreciate and love you all the more. Very best wishes to the two of you..

We looked there and the cheapest thing was like $14,000 and it was a tiny little nothing. Most of the jewelry was in the $50,000 range. My fi picked out my ring at Tiffany's and took a picture of it to a jewelry and had it made. Most jewelry stores charge 200% mark up but stores like Tiffany's and Cartier have a 300-400% mark up to cover their overhead.

My ring cost around 13,000 to have made and Tiffany's wanted 23,000 for the same ring.

I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting to get your girfriend a ring you know she will adore, especially if you can afford it.

If you are not in an area where you can stop in I suggest calling them to get an idea. Tell them the price range you want to stick to and the styles you really likes and they can give you an idea.

Ring prices can vary greatly depending on the cut clarity color and carat weight of a stone. First start with your budget and the styles you like and they can guide you from there.

You need to find a local Cartier jeweler to find a price if they are not listing it on the website.
