Being chubby does scare off some men, but others like a girl who is a bit chubby. That does not mean that you shouldn't lose weight; you definitely should.
Here are some tips that may or may not help. It's always up to you. But at least read them, please!
Almost everyone thinks that their way of losing weight works. You can try a hundred diets and different things, but they never work. Why? Because you must do it your way.
First, find a sport or activity that you like that will help you get into shape. Bicycling, swimming and hiking are a few ones that you could think about. The most important thing is that you like to do it. It will NEVER work unless you like it.
The same goes for diets. Find food that you like, but is also healthy. Unless you are eating the food you like, you will never lose weight.
Good luck. And don't settle for anyone except for the one you really love.

I was almost 300 lbs. by the time I had my son 5 months after our wedding (yes, an "early baby".
My husband at the time was very fit.
Now, 6 years later, I weigh over 100 lbs. less, and he's 30 lbs. heavier. Ah, the irony.
Yes,looking a certain way may hinder your chances, especially if you are looking in bars and clubs. Very few people find long-lasting relationships in places like that, because everything in that type of atmosphere is based on looks.
Be interesting, be confident, and live like you don't need a man. Don't be standoffish, but independent. Then, someone will drop out of the sky and love you top to bottom inside and out.

Of course, beauty is what we have in our hearts. And there's plenty of men out there who find heavy women yummy. The world today is obsessed with health and fitness, that's fine we should all eat right and get exercise and drink plenty of water, however trying to look like a super modal is unrealistic as most of us don't have the money to visit every plastic surgeon on the east and west coast. Heavy people still look and feel desirable. Look at an old art book one day, most all of the women you see in the nudes are (by today's standards) fat. My mama always said a man will look for a women to shade him in the Summer and warm him in the winter, I'm 5 8 and I wear a size 12, that's the average jean size for women in this country today. not 4 or 6 or even 2 , 12 so be yourself and be happy. If your health is not at risk don't kill yourself with fad diets. There is someone for everyone, I believe this to be true. So get out and remember mama says "you wont catch a fish with no bait on the hook, sexy attire is for women of all sizes. Good Luck Hun smile that's your best accessory

What's fat today?? I am 5"4 and weight 187 and I am extremely healthy, run and exercise. For some reason, I can't seem to shed a pound but the more I work out the better I look- but I don't lose weight. As long as you are happy with who you are and your body- then YES!!! I am getting married to a skinny guy in Nov!! But it your not happy, you need to do something about it :)
The average size woman is between a 10-14 today :)
Be happy and Healthy!!!

Hey sista! Join the club...I'm fat, proud of my curves and of course looking for ways to lose the weight.
Nonetheless, I've found the man of my dreams (and he's skinny).
Just make sure to try to dress well, have a good attitude and personality...and keep an eye out....men are always looking for a great catch!

Oh, Veronica, more than you know! There are mature, loving men who would like nothing better than a curvy woman with meat on her bones so they have lots to cuddle, instead of being scared to break a skeleton.
As some of the nice, other positive answerers have said so well - be confident in yourself, independent, and love every inch and pound of yourself - inside and out. The men will come.... but you have to be comfortable with yourself first, you have to like and love yourself - before the men can see it ... and they will.
Good luck!
p.s. forget the bars and clubs. I met my lean European husband at church!

I'm engaged to a great guy and i am not skinny. I think if a man can look past the outside and see what's on the inside it is possible for a man to love you.

Chick, I'm ugly, and I've never had a problem getting a man, a decent man is more interested in personality, if you have an interesting personality, sparkling wit, charm, elegance etc you will always be an attractive person to be around.

Yes. I know many people who are overweight and have the happiest marriages. It is what is inside of you that counts. Beauty is only skin deep. I'm sure you are a wonderful person who will make a great wife for some lucky man.
