You will feel better having some sort of rings. Just get inexpensive ones - doesn't sound like you'll be wearing them long enough for them to turn your fingers green!

my sister in law and brother in law (to be) didn't excahnge anything at their inital wedding. instead, they lit a unity candle to symbolise their union. they are renewing their vows next summer in Poland, so that's when they're going all out on the wedding, complete with rings, fancy cakes, dancing, etc. you could do that, or i've also heard of a sand ceremony (each has a different colour, they pour them in, first bride, then groom, then together) a crushed glass ceremony (same as sand) and part where the couple cuts a lock of each other's hair, putting them in a special box (mixing of their hairs, kinda like the other two, but not many people i know would do this!) there's also a rose ceremony, which is very sweet and romantic, and i'm using this in my wedding (tho we're having rings as well) here's a link to it:http://www.handfasting.info/roserit.html or you could give each other some other sort of gift, like necklaces, or something like that.

You can exchange simple bands for the ceremony or nothing at all. Have the JP skip the part about the rings and go straight to the kiss. Congrats and good luck.

you do no longer could have a marriage ring in case you're starting to be married in a motel . . you do no longer could have a marriage ring in case you're starting to be married on your sister's outdoor . . and you do no longer could have a marriage ring in case you're starting to be married with the aid of a civil servant in a courtroom residing house. a marriage ring isn't a criminal requirement. a marriage ring is a logo or token of a dedication between 2 human beings. in case you do no longer plan to replace wedding ceremony jewelry throughout your wedding ceremony ceremony, the officiant could be recommended of that so as that area of the ceremony is passed over. traditionally, the Bride pays for the Groom's ring and the Groom purchases the Bride's ring. it rather is their present to a minimum of one yet another. replied with the aid of: a authorized wedding ceremony professional / a professional bridal representative / a bridal ceremony offiiant

You can buy really inexpensive rings at K-Mart, just so you have something to exchange, and then when you buy your really cool rings, you can store your original wedding bands in a neat display case engraved with your wedding date. Just a thought. Plus, that way you have something to wear in the interim.

My friends did something similar, because it was all they could afford. I think they paid around $100 or so.

You don't have to exchange rings, just let the officiant know in advance. A ring exchange is a tradition, and has no bearing on the legality of your marriage. Congrats.

I think that you deserve a ring. If he doesn't want one, and he wants to get you one that is unique later, great. But I think that you deserve to have one at the wedding. As I have said in response to other questions in "Weddings", you can get great deals on wedding jewelry on Ebay. Just be sure and check to see that the seller has a lot of good feedback.
And I think that you deserve to have this wedding be a real celebration, even though it is at the courthouse. Look at the answers to the other questions in "Weddings" which deal with having a nice wedding inexpensively. Best wishes!

There is a beautiful verse and a rose ceremony I have it here if you would like me to email it to you let me know....I am going to use it in my wedding and I think it is something meaningful and very straight from the heart. I basically says that your first gift as husband and wife is to be roses and to set aside a special place in your house for these special gifts and when you fight all you need to do to say "Im Sorry" is to place a new rose in that special place and your partner will know what it means...I thought this was very special especially since some people have trouble finding those words sometimes. Its very intimate and romantic if you can get your JOP to agree to do it.

Let me know if you would like this verse!!!!!!

You could exchange a kiss. If you want a physical object, why not exchange something that has special meaning for each of you. You may give him a watch from your grandmother and he may give you a small wood box he made when he first met you. Something like that.

The ring based on some research was never meant to be used as a symbol of marriage. My wife and I were thionking about s a using some unique braclets as our symbol of marriage.
