My sister had an October wedding and had a fall theme. It was so pretty! She had these really neat table decorations. The florist carved out pumpkins and put flowers in the middle of them. She also had an arch in the doorway of the reception hall decorated with fall colored leaves(fake leaves). There are really pretty orange and red colored lillies that would go great too. Good luck!

I think the whole world is getting married this September (September 2007 here), so congratulations! September is a great month because it affords you to still keep summer colors if you want, but also to go into fall colors as well - it's not too hot or too chilly, so the possibilities are endless. Will it be an indoor or outdoor affair? What did you envision in all the years of your girl/teenhood? Princess wedding or simple flower-dress type of wedding? Ballroom or garden? Do you even like flowers (I don't). Those are the things you have to think about, don't worry what is "tradition" - it's your day - do whatever you feel in your heart. Good luck.

i am already half way through planning my wedding, but my advice to you would be, look at the locations you are hoping to have your wedding at, do they already have a style, maybe you could work with that. my theme is deep red roses.
what are yours and your hubby to be's interests, maybe you could incorporate this into it. there was someone on here that was going have a casino themed wedding and another who was having a coffee theme.
the below link is really great, once you have an idea, go to this site and find it from their theme list, click on the link and it will take you to a whole list of links that will take you to sites that help you to include your theme in all aspects of your wedding. i did this for mine and found it really helpful.
best of luck,

Why do you need a wedding theme? Just make it personal, that will be enough. Pick your colors, pick your flowers, and add personal touches. If you don't have something that you automatically wanted to make your wedding about, then you don't need a theme in the first place.

Here's a cute personal touch, instead of table numbers, take pictures of numbers in your daily life. Like a picture of a Hwy 12 sign could be Table 12. Put it in black and white and set it on the table. Just make it personal, and put thought into it. You don't need a theme, because those usually go tacky.

I was in a similar boat. We are getting married in september and we are having a fall theme. Pumpkin centerpieces carved out filled with brightly colored mums. Fake leaves all around it. Apples de-cored and candles in them. There are so many things you can do with a fall theme. Or is there something you really like... star trek or a Laguna beach theme. Start with things you enjoy and things you like and go from there. Good luck

It would help if you could tell us more about you and your intended. And like other people said, you don't HAVE to have a theme. If you choose to, I'd try to pick something understated and dignified. One recent wedding I attended had a reception (not ceremony) that was Hollywood themed. Not cheesy stuff, but old-time classic parties, with lots of black and silver decorations, a red carpet, champagne and a lavish buffet.

Wedding IS a theme.

Seriously, you don't need a theme. Creating one makes a joke of the whole thing. Are you really thinking that your wedding needs to be a joke? If so, save you money and don't have a wedding. Get married and go see a funny movie with 100 of your friends and relatives.

Most people during a fall season tend to go with a fall theme. You can use just colors to inspire fall like reds oranges and browns or go full force with a them e bringing in pumkins and fall leaves. Usually the flowers that are in season at this time (and the most affordable) lend them selves well to a fall theme.

I fyou dont really like fall then just first start with your favorite color and based on that color what does it remind you of? build off of that. Good luck.
