My logic of not getting them a gift was because sis will have the same name even after the wedding. Nothing's changed and we don't even get any new in-laws to boot...

Third cousin??? And your parents are actually letting this happen. Sorry that is just wrong. But getting married is not about whether your name changes or not. It is about the fact that 2 people are standing in front of family and friends and honoring each other and making a commitment to each other. Although being 3rd cousins, i think that family already took care of alot of the commitment, cause after all they are already family and they can't change that, not even divorce can change that.
It would be inappropriate to not get a gift. If your sister was marrying your best friend, would you get them a gift? If your sister was marrying anyone besides her 3rd cousin, would you get them a gift? It doesn't matter who she marries, a gift is appropriate

You're a cheap jerk. I would understand if you had a problem with your sister marrying a cousin but for you to try and weasel out of buying a gift using that as an excuse is low. Your problem isnt the marriage but your ill-desire to purchase a wedding gift.

Engaged to a third cousin??? I think that's more of the problem here. Not to get a gift or not. If this was for real, you wouldn't ask if you have to get your sister a gift for her wedding, you would just get one...

Ok, that's kind of creepy. But, yes, you still need to get a gift/give a card. Heck, even a card with $25 is better than nothing.

If your invited to the wedding or shower, it would be nice. But just because they are engaged- No, unless they are having an engagement party- then again it would be nice.

At least send them a card.

get them the book "You might be a redneck if..." Actually, it being a 3rd cousin isn't like its incest, but it is really creepy and weird.
