How much are you spending on flowers at your wedding and what are you getting for that price?

has anyone else been in this situation? My husband and I married JOP, because i refused to wait years and years until we could afford a big wedding without going into debt, but that was only if i agreed to have a vow renewal later. Do you think he just wants a big celebration? is it strange to have the roles reversed like this (i don't like going to weddings, never mind being in one. i have very happy with the jop. my hubby says he wants to see me walk down the aisle)

I am a private floral designer who's specialty is wedding flowers and decor. I own my own home based business in Central Missouri and offer my brides a custom experience when using me as their wedding day florist. I have been in this business for 10 years. I am always trying to find new ways to serve my brides better and I have a couple questions.

#1- Which would you be more in favor of, a florist who can meet with you in your office or a cafe on your time for no extra cost, or a florist that ownes a store front space that requires you to meet with them on their time?

#2- What is your budgeted amount for flowers at your wedding? This helps me get a good idea of the average budget for weddings in my area!

Thanks!

I know most people do but
1. He is not my minister- just marrying us.
2. Formal wedding so it's $100 per plate at the reception.
3. The church we are getting married in- kind of "sells" weddings. I was baptized there so I want to get married there. It's a small historical church and we already paid $1,400 for the use of the church which included the minister's fee, the organ player, the runner, candles and parking attendant.

I don't attend this church, I picked it because I love how it looks and I was baptized there and it's in my hometown.

I honestly wasn't even thinking of inviting him until a friend said something to me about it.

I am getting married in April and my bm has now decided that she doesn't see why she should pay for her shoes, we agreed when we asked her that she would pay for them, and we would pay for her dress £130, tiara £50, jewelry £25, hair & makeup including trial £85. So I don't think I am being unreasonable asking her to pay for what shoes she wants and the ones she wants are £150 and I won't pay that much for my own never mind her.

If anyone can offer any advice please do.

I am getting married in June 2008 so there is no immediate rush to get a wedding dress- I have however spotted one in Monsoon that is gorgeous! I will only buy it this year if it goes in the sale, but run the risk that they may not do the same design next year!!!
Does anyone know when they put wedding dresses in sales? at the moment I am visiting the store every week to check! (its the Miranda dress- size12).
I also need to check if its easy to adjust (in case I loose/out weight on!!)

Okay, so most of you would not want to take the risk of ordering your flowers online due to the fear of damage in shipping. BUT! What if they arrived with a spill proof water supply attached and contained in a temp. regulated container? And to furthermore rest your worries, what if the business offered to replace the bouquet, if damaged in shipping, through another florist in your local area?

Of course shipping time would have to coordinate with your wedding time. If you get married at 8am on Saturday morning, your bouquet would be scheduled to arrive on Friday afternoon. Since some flowers are just to delicate to ship at all, the bouquete styles to choose from would containe very hardy flowers that have a longer shelf life and have year round availability. This would increase the chances that other florist in your local area would be able to fill the order quickly and easily if something did go wrong and the flowers were damaged.

I really appreciate your input!

When we were kids, this girl and I were absolute best friends. We've grown apart now and live completely different lives hundreds of miles away from each other.

She's a SEVERE Catholic and always has been. She's having a very traditional wedding and wants me to be in the wedding party. Only problem is, my upper body is covered with tattoos.

I want to be respectful of her wedding and her beliefs and don't want to cause a scene. I know she loves me but doesn't "agree with" tattoos.

I'm not going to use make-up to cover them up for many reasons. Mainly because I don't think make-up would cover them and also because I don't want to slather my body with thick, smelly foundation.

Should I opt for a shawl? Or tell her I'd love to go not be in the wedding party? I'm torn. I'm not ashamed of my tattoos but want to be respectful of her day.

I feel lack of trust between us specially from my side b'coz i don't trust him completely as i do earlier before our marriage.I talk to him abt my feelings and everytime he says he loves me a lot.But how could i cope up with all ups and downs in my life.Is all this was the natural thing or my expectations were high from him.Why don't he also have the same feeling as i have for him or every man changes like this after marriage.

I just wanted to know what will or what was done as far church decorations. I know there is the typical pew deocration, and aisle runner. But what else did you do as far as deocrations are considered.

Please I only want opinions on church deocorations not reception decor. thanks

Well, the best man was his father, the 7 yr. old nephew was a groomsmen, and the sister-in-law was a bridesmaid. They backed out because they did not agree that we were getting married away. They were for it until the groom didn't call them for a week. And what about the 7yr old not going to his uncle's wedding. How devistating is that to him, since it was talked up for 9mths? We tried talking and his dad said I would understand if you did not talk to us again but that is your choice not ours. The dad also said I am immune to feeling guilty and showed no remorse. The Mother and sister in law are lonely and started this whole thing. They stated the groom doesn't put enough effort in to the family because he doesn't call or stop in a weeks time. The longest was a week-n-1/2 time. The mother tries to be real controlling and when she doesn't get her way she talks bad about us, ignores us, and puts stress on us until we give in. What do we do?

My mother is helping us pay for the wedding and my fiance's parents have refused to give any money (said if they contribute they want to control it,) So how can we word our invitations to say my mother along with us are the hosts. We will put "son of " to include them a little, just not as hosts. So how can we word it?

If there was a website that shipped nationally, gave a garuntee for fresh delivery, and gave you a wide selection of pre-constructed wedding bouquest for a low cost...would you consider buying your bridal party bouquets through that web site instead of using a local florist?

When my husband and I got married we hired a bilingual officiant. She did a great job, very professional, etc. When it came to our marriage license, we never received it. We called her several times and at first she said she had to find out what happened and we never heard back. We called and she would answer or return our messages. I had to trick her into calling us back by submitting a new request for her services. We went to the court house and basically nothing had been sent to them and to file a small claim it would be to much time and money we didnt have. All I want is for someone else not to fall for this. What can I do?
