I just wanted to know what will or what was done as far church decorations. I know there is the typical pew deocration, and aisle runner. But what else did you do as far as deocrations are considered.

Please I only want opinions on church deocorations not reception decor. thanks

We only did the pew bows and two arrangments at the altar. Honestly, I think churches are probably some of the most beautiful buildings anyway, you dont need much to enhance the beauty, they can stand alone.

Well, it's kinda hard to describe, but at the entryway (where the bridal party and the bride walk down the aisle) my Mom put a vine with gorgeous blossomed roses on the top of the door, with like a sheer curtain draping on the sides of the door.

The doors were covered (glass doors) with a sheer - but hard to see through - fabric, so when the doors were closed right before me and my father walked down the aisle, no one could see my dress until the doors were simultaneously opened. That was cool cause you get to hear the oohs and ahhs!

My Mom also used these like 6ft. tall plants decorations. She is a decorator, so she did all of this. They were flower arrangements on top of these long, elegant poles, placed symmetrically throughout the hall (church).

She also sewed a thick silk red ribbon onto the sides of the runner for the aisle. (my colors were red and black). That was nice, hadn't seen anyone else do it.

All the chairs had a hand made rose - out of thick ribbon - tied to the back of it. And the family chairs had thick ribbons of red and silver to set them apart!

Hope this info helped ya!

Wish ya the best and congratulations!

I had the aisle runner, pew bows, and two altar sprays. My Unity candle had babies breath and greenery placed around it. That is the typical Church decoration. Anything else would really be your choice. Nowaday's Bride's have added fabric swags with flowers going down the pews, Altar arches, candles along the aisle and so on. You can either go crazy or keep it simple.

Since I had a candlelight wedding, I had huge candlelabras up in the choir areas and candles along the aisles. The church lights were dimmed so that the candle effect would stand out. As decorations, I had roses and color coordinated ribbons adorning the candleholders. Simple, yet elegant.

Depending on the church as far as space is concerned. How about renting palms or if it's a night wedding lit ficus trees or maybe peace lilies. Also have some flowers up front were you will be getting married. Sometimes this will soften the photo's taken at the wedding. because sometimes the photo's look cold without greenery or flowers. Hope this helps Oh by the way you can rent ficus trees and palms and peace lilies. Usually interior plant scape company's do this.
Good luck........ you will look BEAUTIFUL!!!!

At my church there were lots of little trees and plants inside and we brought them all together to where we wanted the main focus of the ceremony and put white christmas lights all over them and dimmed the big lights in the church and it made it look very elegant and romantic. We did have pew bows and that was about it.

You can have an arch that can be decorated with garlands and tulle. The tulle can also be used to join the pew bows which will only allow entrance from one side. Also the altar area can be decorated with a few huge boquets and other plants mixed in.

Hope this helped.

Don't bother with anything else besides the pew decorations, and even the aisle runner isn't necessary. But anything else, like altar arrangements and pedestals, are a waste because no one notices.

I had the same question I was going to ask and was thinking just about doing the pew decorations too.
I never notice any extras like pedestals either. I think keeping things fairly simple is best.

I saw candles in the windows lite with flowers around them in a wedding once. There was also candles & flowers on the piano & all around the front of the church. The lights were dimmed during the ceremony. It was very pretty.
