Anything from the disco era is BOUND to get people up on the floor. Donna Summer, Earth Wind and Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band...just to name a few artists off the top of my head. Also, your DJ should have a good list of suggestions for you, and a good DJ will know what to play and when to help keep the party going. I know people say that you can burn CD's or a play list on your iPod, and you can, but NOTHING can replace a good DJ who can read the tone of the party, and know when people need to jump up and boogie, and when it's time for a breather with a slower number.

MUST HAVE: Cha Cha Slide
Be sure to pick some sappy love songs (usually country) for couples to slow dance. Our family always plays "Locomotion" and to save the bride from getting all sweaty (and also so that you don't give the grandmas a heart attack by running all over the building inside and out) we also make a bridge which is awesome fun! The couple is at the front, followed by as many guests as you can possibly get to make a big chain (grab onto the waist and kick dance) then you and groom form a bridge like london bridge and the next two people go under and make a bridge, and the next two go under two bridges, the next 3, and so on until finally the bride and groom come back under the very long bridge.... it gives you a breather and lots of laffs....have fun!!!

If you have a lot of kids coming I suggest the "I like to Move It, Move it" song. Its from the movie Madagascar and every kid will know it and get up and dance. Plus its a great song.

Electric Slide is probably going to get the most people out on the dance floor. Songs like: We Are Family are good too. Most DJ's know from experience what songs work best. I suggest talking to your DJ and brainstorming with him/her.
