I have been married before and I have 3 kids from a previous marriage....my fiancee has never been married and has no kids. My problem is since this is his frst wedding he wants me to wear white and I don't think that I should. He doesn't even want an off white or ivory...white white is what he wants me to wear....what do you think??

Whatever you want. If you want to wear white, go for it. But don't feel that you can't because you've been married or had kids. I've seen alot of 2nd time brides & people with their children in their wedding wearing white.

The whole white is only if your pure thing is so out the window these days. I think you should wear white, it looks better in photos, it will make him happy and it could be seen as a fresh start for the two of you. That is sweet of him to give you all you want, if this is his only request I say why not make him happy? Congrats on the wedding!

No one will get offended if you wear white.. unless your guests are from the early 20th century.. :) Is there any other reasons holding you back from wearing white? People dont even really think about the white dress anymore.. I think ALL wedding dresses should be white. No, youre not a virgin but it doesnt matter. Wear what you want! :) Good luck.

Wear white! I am getting married this June and this is my second wedding and I have a child as well and I am wearing white. If you do not feel comfortable wearing all white select a dress that has an additional color. Alfed Angelo has some beautiful dresses that are white with an accent color. Just remember that this is your day with your new love in your life.

Since your wedding day is a special and sacred time for the both of you, your fiancee's request should be seriously considered. This is a new life for him and if he wants to be reminded of purity his love for you than so be it (white represents purity)). It's his only request and while all eyes will be on you, your will be on him and what better way t make him smile then for him to know that not only his request but he is very important to you and your marriage..

If you don't want to wear white, then don't. Pick a dress with a hint of color like pink or peach or lilac.
But there is nothing wrong with you wearing white. I just wouldn't go with something real poufy.
If this is his only request, then try to honor it. It's his wedding, too.

Hmmm. I think a lot of things about this one, actually.
First, you can wear white. It's perfectly appropriate to wear white for a second marriage. Perhaps a simple white dress, one that is white but not all poofy?
Second...why is he telling you what you should wear?
Edit: Phew! Well, in that case, I'd wear the white. I think it's perfectly acceptible. And when you order the dress, you'll have the option to order it in diamond, or any of the off white colors. It won't really be white, but he'll think that it's really white (guys can't see the color differences like women can).
But to more directly answer you question, it is completely appropriate for you to wear white. Or whatever color you want, really.

White is just a old tradition, it by no means is even really regarded to as propper or inpropper any more. I would hold of on promissing the whole white dress, because the dress you end up wanting maybe ivory, or some off color.

If it's his only request then consider it. I know for my wedding I wore and antique white which by far complimented my complexion better and photographed easier than white white. White is a hard colour to wear if you are fair...and tends to wash people out in photos. Try those points with him to see if he can be swayed to a less harsh colour...if not then perhaps white it should be. Try to take his feelings into account afterall it's his wedding too.
Good luck and congratulations

You should try and come to a compromise. Maybe you can have a dress custom made that has some white and off white or maybe a light yellow (if a spring wedding) mixed in.
