Why is there such a big push for the bigger is better ideology when buying engagement rings? Growing up I loved my mom’s engagement ring/wedding ring and wished for one from the man of my dreams. It’s simple, small, beautiful and symbolizes something so pure. Most my friends mom’s have small carat size engagement/wedding ring. But these days there is such a push for huge rocks. People bend over backwards to buy engagement rings. That’s so silly to me. If you can afford it go for it, but what happened to the simple days?

I'm the bride. I want to wear a ice pink beautiful wedding gown. What colors would go well with that? What color dresses would my bridemaids wear? Has any of you ever been to a wedding and the bride had on a pink gown? I think it'll be gorgeous.

Actually, I have seen people married. I see so much joy during their wedding and even after. The man smiles while the woman smiles and every body laugh. Then what rings in my mind is, from where did the man get the woman, what was she going through before he met her; from where did the woman meet this man, what was he going through? Who has actually help their friend. On the other hand, I think they have been together for long and have struggle alot together to achieve what they have, Properties, Children, etc. It is very great. But I still think some one should say to the other, thanks darling for making me what I am. Therefore, I want to know who has the advantage to be appreciated by the partner after a happy marriage.

I have an estranged mother. I haven't seen her or had her apart of my life for over 12 years. I am getting married this year, and just found out she is aware of the wedding. I don't want her there, it would ruin 'my special day'. Her side of the family disowned me, so none of them will be there either. There really isen't anyone who would be able to tell her the details of the event, but she is mentally unstable, and has gone to great lengths in the past to try and make herself present at my 'milestones' (highschool graduation etc). I want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to keep a wedding 'locked down' without having it be obvious to guests. I really don't want her there, and I also don't want my guests to see her being escorted out by police. It feels like a fine line, and I am worried.

For anyone who is concerned about her, don't be. Believe me when I say this women has NO right to be apart of my adult life.

I'm getting married in 9 months. I am in love with my fiancée and am excited about our future together. We are in our early 30's and were together for 2 years before we got engaged. We have a happy and healthy relationship. Prior to being with him, I was in 3 year relationship with someone who i thought was 'the one' but I broke up with him because I was no longer happy and he wasn't good for me. I never would get back with my ex and nor do I even miss his company....BUT, for god's sake, why does he pop into my head about 3 or 4 times per day. Why does he enter my mind at all? We don't talk at all either. I finally am getting married to someone who I am meant for, but why does an ex keep entering my mind ...i just want to forget about him completely. I will feel like hell if I think of him on my wedding day. I feel like i'm psychotic or or I should go to hypnotism or something to get him out of my head. He is a good person but i don't miss him. I'm confused.

Just curious, why taking into account the way society is today why would an American male(specially if you are non religious) under 40, white or black ever want to marry an American woman? I have been to about 4 weddings of Americas in the last 4 years between white male/white female, w/w, black/black, and bl male/wh female. They all got divorced in less than 2 years. Everybody that I know is getting divorced. 1) These days it is very easy to have sex without getting married, and sex is nothing to so many American women (believe me I went to college here, why buy a cow when you can get the milk for free). 2) Before most of the time the woman was the main person holding the marriage, nowadays that is mostly not the case, lots of them are pretty quick in divorcing. 3) Money loses in general are pretty bad for males. 4) Many American women are raised to be like males, not many good wives in that group, more into parties & drinking. Living with somebody seems so much efficient, and simple

My fiance and I are planning a wedding in the Pocono Mountains. He is from India and we have been together for almost 5 years, but he is not a citizen of the U.S. There are requirements of having SS numbers and such. What papers or other things will he need instead?
