Weddings - December 2006

We've been going out for almost 5 years. My boyfriend is 3 years younger than me (he's 26) and I am ready to get engaged and get married now but he won't propose! We've talked about getting married and I think he wants it to happen but I feel like time is ticking and nothing is moving on for us. We live together and have done so for about 2 years now. Can I bug him about it and push him into it or is this a bad move?

ok. i was going to make fudge for everyone, but i dont have off work till xmas day, so i dont have the time to do it. i am shopping before work today, and i still need ideas for my brother and my stepdad.

my brother is loaded *money-wise* and needs nothing. he is 22, i already decided on a pocket knife, but what else?

my stepdad, i absolutely hate, and he hates me, but im spending xmas day there to be w/ my mom and brother, and i dont want him to feel left out. he is the kind of person who hates everything and everyone, therefore, he will like nothing. any tips?

please keep in mind, i dont have alot of money to work with, plz help me out!!!

My boyfriend and I have deiced to get married I want to have a nice wedding with the perfect dress,flowers,cake, ect but we don't have the money for that right now. But my grandma and my great aunt are all sick and may only be here another year or so I was wondering if we should go to the court house and have a small wedding with just my mom his parents and grandparents and thats it (but not let anyone know that we go married till we have the "real wedding") and then have the "real wedding" later when we have the money. He wants to go ahead and do this but I want our special day to be magical and I dont think I can get that at the courthouse.

What do you all think and what do you all suggest?

I was also wondering if you all knew any good web sites for nice and affordable bridal sets.

We attended a wedding last month and forgot to bring the card with the check in it. I just tracked down the newlywed's address last week and was going to mail the card, and a day later received a thank you note for our generous gift! What is the proper etiquette? Obviously I'm going to send the card/check, but do I attach a note saying that she might have overlooked someone elses gift? My husband thinks we are off scott-free, keep the check and thank our lucky stars. What should I do?

Your opinion... What do you think of a man who wears a diamond encrusted wedding band as opposed to a smooth metal one (gold, white gold, platinum, other metals?)
