Well - a couple of days ago I posted a question on the same topic - was planning on asking my boyfriend to marry me over Christmas/New Year. Personally I think it's a great idea, why shuold guys be the ones who 'have' to ask stuff like that. I hate the thought of sitting waiting for my boyfriend to pop the question, dropping hints and that kind of thing (& I know plenty girls who have done that). In the question I asked I was actually pretty surprised at the number of people (men and women) who thought it was a bad idea.

I would be careful on doing that. Men are the ones should ask the girl to marry. If a girl asks a guy to marry her then she may lose him. Guys are picky for that. But it all depends on the guy I guess. I would never ask a guy to marry me. To me the man should be the one not the girl.

To me it's not even about the control, I generally don't trust girls as much when they make the first move in general. Because women usually aren't the ones to apporach guys or ask guys to marry them, it seems suspicious as to what their real motives are when the one rare woman decides to do that.

If she proves she's a good person with sincere motives, then I'd be happy if she did that. But thats rare.

I disagree in a 100% with that, u need a guy with balls, a guy with power,.Really , if he hasn't propose yet, is because he still doubt it, and he is not sure. The head of the family is the man, and the woman is the neck. This is no romantic at all, no magic.

Nothing wrong with that. Women have learned that they don't have to linger hopefully waiting around for the man to make the first move. They follow their heart and their head.

As a woman I'd love to have that option without any embarrasment. But in the real world, I do not think i will ever get the gut to do it...but I'd love to...
