I'm going to make my own bouquet because I'm having my wedding in Cancun. There's a 2 day waiting period to have your ceremony in Cancun once you arrive. How far before I leave should I have the flowers delivered?

If you keep the flowers in the cold and wet place, it should last four days !!!

When we planned our wedding, we talked to several florists about calla lillies. That is what we carried as well! We were told that they will keep well for about 24 hours refrigerated and in water.

If you're concerned about the life span of the cut callas, have you considered using silks? I ended up deciding to carry white faux callas, and no one knew that they were fake - I received a bunch of compliments on them, actually. If you use a quality silk, they may cost just as much as the real flower per stem (or less when they're out of season), but you won't have to worry about them wilting before your wedding.

Just a thought. Either way, I hope your day is perfect! Good luck!

Like I said before- check with a florist. If you getting married in Cancun they normally offer discounted flowers. I would say 24 hours but then you have to make sure they ship there, and if they get there in time and also make sure the hotel has a flower freezer you can put it in. My best friend went through this and had to get married with Dead flowers because she insisted on making her own. It was too hot and all the flowers open up and dead within 2 hours.

They can last for 24 hours. But, I would never use calla lillies. Calla Lillies mean Death. They are used for funerals no weddings. You should look up the meanings of flowers before using them.

Orchids go great with calla lilies. You could have apple-colored orchids and champagne-colored calla lilies. Or apple-colored callas and just greenery, beargrass, etc. Honestly, a bouquet of just calla lilies looks really great all on its own.

I am not sure exactly how long the flowers will last, but to avoid the possibility of them dying you may want to choose fake or silk flowers. They are going to stay beautiful long after the honeymoon is over.

Good Luck!

I don't really know how long they last, but I do know that if you place them in 7up instead of water, any flower will last for weeks.... no kidding! Even tulips which rarely last more than 3 days will last for about 2 weeks.... Something about the sugar...
