Can anyone tell me about their city hall experience? My fiancee and I are planning to get married at city hall in fall 2007 but before we announce it to our families, I'd like to get an idea of what this involves.

1. How many witnesses were you allowed to bring?

2. What did you wear? I am considering a black sheath dress and a peach cardigan.

3. How long did the ceremony take? Did you say vows?

4. What did you do afterwards?

5. How did you involve your families and friends?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 1 year and 3 months. Whilst we were 7 months in we realized that we have the atmost love for each other and began speaking on marriage in the near future and kids and so forth. Ever since then a few times for each month the topic of kids and marriage and cohabitating has sprung up here and there. Weeks ago he mentioned he already begun looking up rings and so forth.

Today we spoke on the phone and he came out and said "oh the bridal show is coming to town next month.......are we going?" and then I turned the question back around on him and then he turned it back on me and then I said "yes we are" and then he was like "REALLY??" whyyyyyy did he ask me then if he was going to react that way...but then he said why dont we go to the Cultural Bridal show when that comes around (which is in the summer of next year)...

What was that all about?

My friend and her fiance happen to be my son's godparents. They are also family...her fiance is my husband's cousin. They are getting married next January...we're in the wedding and they want our son, who will be 2 1/2 to be the ring bearer.
My husband and I decided that we don't want our son in the wedding because he will be too young and we just want to enjoy ourselves at the wedding. He was also asked to be in my sister in law's wedding and we told her no...she didn't have a problem.
The problem is that my friend is being a total bridezilla and won't take no for an answer. She tells me that she only wants him in the ceremony and that my mother can come pick him up afterwards. I don't want my mother to go out of her way to come get my son. Plus, I already told my sister in law that he wasn't going to be in her wedding. If my sister in law finds out that he's in my friend's and not hers, then there will be some unnecessary family drama.
What should I do?

I'm getting married in 2008, but am just trying to plan ahead. Me and him don't want to spend too much money on the wedding, so I've decided that I'd be fine with just renting my gown. But where can I go to do that? I live in the Northern Orange County area in California...

I don't want a band and I'll just hook in my ipod with some music I'll download but I don't want it to be cheesey. Maybe some modern stuff. I like 90's music like REM and Oasis(late 90s but still 90s) and mid 90s. It would be really quiet. I just don't want the normal stuff.

Both of the little guys will be just under two years old, so I want to have them walk down together, and a ring pillow to match the one I have is $30. If it comes down to it, I'll just get another one, no big deal - - but I was trying to think of something creative that one of the boys could carry instead. Any ideas?

We have a 30th wedding anniversary coming up, and I need gift ideas for my husband. We don't have vacation time coming, so we are unable to travel. We also don't have much money to spend.
