Maids of honor are usually responsible for coordinating the bachelorette party and bridal shower.
They also usually help the bride choose bridesmaid gowns and assist with other wedding planning items--like being there to listen to all the drama that comes with planning a wedding.
I've been the maid of honor twice. I did all those things and so did my matron of honor when I got married.
It's a special time for the bride, and the maid of honor is a major support for her.

Maids of Honor just walk up the isle before the Bride and stand beside her during the ceremony. Only the Matron of Honor, or head Maid have to actually do anything during the ceremony. They take the flowers from the Bride and hold them while the Bride and Groom are exchanging rings and kissing. Then they give them back to the Bride.

Mainly DE STRESS THE BRIDE! :)
And make sure that things run smoothly at the hens night. A good hint is to have someone with the net, for if anything is to go wrong, you can jump on-line and find out the info you need to "de stress the bride".
A good idea is to help/overlook all the arrangements and make any suggestions to the bride that may assist.
get as much info as you can, like phone numbers of venues, friends, family, etc.
Then you will be a shining maid of honour (I think)
good luck :)

They are the bride's personal assistant you might say. They plan the bridal shower, go shopping with the bride, buy gifts for the bride and bridesmaids. Have you searched any wedding websites? They have a wealth of information on wedding etiquette. Also your wedding consultant should be able to answer your question if you have one.

What ever the bride wants them to do. They need to be kinda the assistant wedding coordinator, the go to person. You need to make sure everything runs smooth or a least the bride needs to think everything is running smooth. You may need to host a shower for the bride, go dress shopping, look at plans, attend other showers, help on her picture day, etc... Some brides want more help than others and some brides just need a person to listen to them. The main thing is to be there for the bride.

depends on the bride pretty much. my maid of honour was there to support me and be my friend, just like any other day. thats all she should have to do. I dont believe in all that she throws the shower and the party and all that...NO! a maid of honour shouldnt be responsible for any of that stuff. its not her wedding after all. shes just there to share the day with you.

Whatever the bride asks of her.
I'm basically going to have my MOH and bridesmaids walk down the aisle. I don't really have any requirements of them except for all of us preparing together :)
