My friend really wants to be bridesmaid at my wedding. I'd decided to just have one bridesmaid (fiance's sister) cause I've lots of friends and didn't want to pick, but now she is seriously putting the thumbscrews on and I don't know what to do. I feel fairly ambivalent about it... We're very close, she's lovely: everything I'd want in a bridesmaid. But I don't know now if I want her to be my bridesmaid because I'd like her to share my day, or if I want her to be bridesmaid cause she wants it. And if it's the latter then...well, I react badly to being manipulated, so it would encourage me not to ask!

Is there an advantage to having a best friend as a bridesmaid rather than a sister-in-law (well, actually it'd be as well as the sister-in-law)? I get on well with the sister-in-law, but I guess I'd not ask her advice or anything like that... In which case having a best friend as a bridesmaid would be much better...

Ack - help!

On Christmas eve my fiance proposed under the Christmas tree at Rockefeller center in NYC. It was so romantic. Naturally all the women in the family started talking about plans the day after. I think it freaked out my fiance a little, and he's getting annoyed b/c everyone keeps asking the date. Should I stop talking about it?... Im just so excited. I'm sure it's because he just wants to enjoy the moment.. this happen to anyone else?

As a Bridesmaid gift, would you rather receive a $100 Nordstrom gift card, or a piece of jewelery (necklace or bracelet) of the same value?

It's in the middle of the winter in 'Cinderella's make believe ballroom'. I am wearing a burgundy gown. I want all guests in black with masks? Should I ask them to bring their own masks? Should I make them all? What decorations can I use??

Fall wedding - chocolate browns with burnt orange, hints of red here and there w/ ivory as a tie-in.

Also, what about a white dress? The bride does not like ivory or off-colored gowns. I'm concerned about the pictures and lighting, given all the other colors.

I will be getting married in November. My fiance and I have decided not to have dancing at the reception since both of us are shy and do not dance. Our families are not much for dancing either. I plan on having light music playing in the background while we have the meal, but I'm still afraid that the few people who may like to dance will be bored. I'm trying to think of alternatives to dancing that everyone would enjoy. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As they undressed for bed, the husband, who was a big burly bruiser, tossed his pants to his bride and said, "Here, put these on."
She put them on and the waist was twice the size of her body. "I can't wear your pants," she said.
"That's right and don't forget it," said the husband. "I'm the man in this family."
With that, she flipped him her panties and said, "Try these on." He tried them on and found he could only get them on as far as his kneecaps.
He said, "Hell, I can't get into your pants."
She said, "That's right, and that's the way it's going to be until your damn attitude changes!"

My dauhter got engeged on boxing day to her boyfriend. He bought the ring himself ,guessed the size ,and it was just what she would have chosen herself..She was overwhelmed, she did expect it to happen soon, but it was such a lovely suprise. He did it the right way, asked her father first, then gave her a boquet of roses, and brought out the champagne.please dont think im bragging ,but we are so happy for her,as she deserves good luck,as she has had quite bad luck in the past...You dont have to answer this if you dont want to,but if you do it would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in anticipation for same.

So I have posted other questions regarding catholic weddings and am happy to announce that I found a one day pre cana! Now before I choose my church does anyone know that do and dont of the catholic churches marriages? Meaning: Fiance and I have lived together for several years, is this permitted by the church? And we have had premarital sex is this permitted AND he has a child from another relationship.. is this permitted? I dont want to go through finding a catholic church and going through pre cana if they are just going to tell us that we can not get married in there church because of our life choices is all. Any help will do
THANKS!

Hi All,

I know this has probably been addressed before, but since I'm new to this site...
We're thinking of having a very simple, but beautiful ceremony on an island and just wanted some opinions. It seems as if this would be less expensive than a NYC wedding. Is this true?
Aside from Sandals, would anyone know of any nice wedding resorts in the Caribbean?
This would be my first time off the US mainland. Which island would be best for a spring wedding?

Thanks!!

Okay this maybe a stupid question but how do you go about having a beach wedding?? Do you have to call someone and ask to reserve an area or what??

We are able to get married by a priest but do not want civil recognition for tax, inheritance reasons etc. We would just like a religious ceremony without the government getting involved.
