Basically it's being the bride's best friend, her confidant, her shoulder when she is stressing, her advisor when she's trying on dresses, etc. You also should hostess a bridal shower and help with thank you cards, addressing the invitations to the wedding and basically anything the bride asks you to help with .. within reason. It's a huge honour but also a huge responsibility.

1) Be supportive
2) Help plan a wedding shower and/or work with family to assist
3) Buy a dress that the bride picks out and be supportive
4) Buy shoes to match the dress
5) Go to/plan bachelorette party, rehersal and dinner before wedding. Perhaps common hair styling and stuff
6) Be at the prescribed place for the wedding
7) Serve the bride for favors before and during the wedding...it is her day. Pick up the train as she gets to the altar, hold the bouquet as needed, support her needs. It is her day.

Bridesmaids jobs are relatively easy ompared to the maid of honour. Your main responsibility is to be the go girl. Help with the brides needs as much as possible. Help arrange the bachelorette party and stag and doe. What ever needs to be done help do it.
Most weddings will have an arrangement party. Basically the bride and the groom have a get together with the wedding party to discuss things that need to be done and people volunteer for what they are capable of helping with.

If you are NOT the maid of honor, your responsibilities are to ask the Maid of honor if there is anything you can assist her with, planning the bachelorette party and shower for example. Offer your assistance to the Maid of Honor, and let the Bride know you are there to support her and the big day. It is the Maid of honor's responsibility to arrange any parties, and take care of all that kind of stuff. In addition, make sure you are on time for dress fittings, hair appointments, parties.....etc... be on time, calm, cool and collected and your job is done. Have fun!

the shower and the bachlorette party. Also any help the bride needs. I used to like to keep little bottles of alcohol in my purse for the real stressful situations. A little drink every so often comes in handy.

Since you're best friends I'd say you are the one to help her plan the wedding. That includes everything from throwing the bachelorette party, to help picking out dresses, cakes and whatever else she needs help you. You are also there to be supportive of her as she needs alot of support.

basically wait for her to give you the orders. also the group of bridesmaids usually plan any showers or parties. The maid of honor is the head of the 'committee'.
The bride will let you know what she needs.
