Well we decided to get married and then booked it for the next weekend. It was a pretty easy wedding.

You should decide on a date for the wedding as soon after the engagement as is possible. The reason for this is because a lot of reception halls are really popular - and they are booked a year in advance! You don't have to announce the date for the wedding just yet, but you want to make sure that the wedding venue you want will be available, especially if the wedding will take place during peak wedding season. Usually, once both sets of parents have met each other, they will sit down and work out a wedding date.

Within two weeks, if I remember right. We got engaged 16 months before the wedding. We had to book the church and reception super early because we had to get married over the summer (we were both in grad school) and the wedding was in a fast-growing suburban area with lots of couples all trying to book venues for the same days.

Like within a few weeks. You are not really officially engaged unless you have a date for the wedding set.

We decided on the month the day we got engaged, then narrowed down the exact date within the next couple of weeks - we booked our venue and confirmed the date within about 3 weeks (more than a year in advance).

It's taken me about three days, but i have 3 dates just waiting to see which one is available for the hall. Long engagements are a waste, why wait to spend the rest of your lives together?

Well it depends if you and your fiancee want a long or short engagement. For myself the date was decided within a month or so from the engagement.

We picked a date then had to change it anyways!!! Cause the church was already booked. Figure out where your getting married first and what hall you are using and go from there. Picking a date out of thin air or trying to get an exact date are hard if you are using a church and cater.
Nov 3, 2007 is mine :)

We decided within a few weeks. We didn't pick a special day or anything, we just picked a weekend that was far enough away from any sort of holiday so it wouldn't interfere. The quicker you pick a date, the quicker you can get started with the planning!
