Not Too Late, Nevr too late to Celebrate!!! Notes from an EVENT PLANNER. It's easy.

Buy food at Sam's Club or at Supermarker deli.

There are great things that you can do to make this a great hit. You will be a HERO to your son. It would help better if I knew the actual place where the event was going to be. It would help with planning to co-ordinate with the theme of the facility. ANYWAY HERE IT GOES.

Buy a Chocolate Fountain and a Punch Fountain. Both about 50bucks a piece. They are great conversation pieces and especially a good focal point for pictures.

PUNCH: You can put a Sparkling wine in the fountain, which is non-alcoholic
(get a case to let it flow)
You can mix a case of Cherry 7-Up with 4 giant cans of pinapple juice.
Half case to two giant cans at a time.

For the Chocolate go to the deli at your local supermarket and get 4 trays of cut fruit. Actually it would ne better if it comes in a bag. Then you can place the fruit around the fountain with a pile of Strawberries, cut bananas, canalope, pineapple and don't forget Fifteen bags of chocolate. The fountain will use about two and a half bags at a time. BUY LONG PLASTIC COCTAIL TOOTHPICKS. Place a small pile in between each setting of Strawberries, between the pineapple, and so on.

Go to a craft Store like Michaels, or Target. Get bottles of champagne bubbles in the wedding isle. It's about tweny four in a box so get three (People love em so much, they'll TAKE two) Blow bubbles when the bride and groom are introduced and walk in.
You'll also see small boxes for slices of cake for the guet to take home. Flavored cake is best. Carmel Cake, Lemon Cake are nice and simple without being dull.

Cornish Hens (Cut in Half) Half per plate, stuffing , babby carrots, mashed sweet potatoes and fresh cranberry sauce is great for the season. And it's comfort food.
But once again, I don't know where the venue and what type of event, formal, Semi-formal, casual fun. Full meal, Light H'oderves (Small plated)Skewers of spiced shrimp, vegies and two rools of sushi, coctail crackers and side of Caviar. Actually the theme of the fod is completely up tp you. U can use Martini Glasses as you food containers for an H'orderve event.

Buy 50 Toss Away Wedding cameras (At Michael's or the Card Outlet located at the counter) Have everyone take pictures like crazy then drop then in a pretty basket on the small corner table by the boor. Basket can be a square and fancy bathroom garbage basket (NEW and UNUSED of course) Smile

It's alot easier than is looks. You will be just fine.

Like I said I am an event planner. Getting people outta fixes is my specialty.

Where are they going for honneymoon? Perhaps an events that everyone can attend?

We are doing the exact same thing for our wedding in less than 5 weeks!! This is what we are having...... Antipasto platters, dolmades, olives etc Cheese platters with crackers bread sticks vol au vont shells filled with chicken and asparagus cheese sauce ( the shells can be bought and the sauce made a day ahead then just fill and heat) mini chicken drumsticks done in a plum sauce, and some in bbq sauce ( cooked on the bbq a day ahead then reheated in the microwave) a platter of cold cut meats, including cut up bbq chicken tiny spicy meatballs on toothpicks with a chilli dipping sauce fetta and spinach triangles little pitta bread pinwheels (not sure what they are called, use a flat bread, fill with cream cheese, ham and whatever topping you prefer then roll up and sice into bite size pieces) Mini quiches two platters of sushi rolls bruchetta I think that is everything. We are also serving dessert. wedding cake, 2 pavlovas, brandy snaps and 2 cheesecakes, huge bucket of strawberries and a chocolate fountain. I hope I have enough to please everyone, it is giving me nightmares. I really wanted to do this and I have lots of help but you still worry about running out of food etc etc. What do you think? Hope I have added to your ideas somewhat. Good luck with your planning. It is fun, even tho it is stressfull.

If you have access to Schwans they have a great punch concentrate just add 2 bottles of a 7 up type soda I use diet as I have to consider the diabetic in our group. It is tasty a nice color and so easy. Most large grocery stores have a great deli section. Cooked chicken, meatballs, sliced meats and rolls and cheese, assorted salads, vegi tray, munchies, dips and spread assorted crackers and chip type munchies. If you tell them about the event they ore then likely will have suggestions. The will also be containers you will just need to take the covers off and they will be set to go.

Have you tried going to BJ's or Costco's? They are frozen pre-made appetizers, like pigs in a blanket, in boxes of 50 or 100 that are really cheap and easy to bake in the oven. Plus, they are easy foods for guests to eat. Also consider getting pasta ordered from a local caterer or Italian deli. Pasta is inexpensive and it really fills people up.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

Hyvee does extraordinary catering- for very reasonable $. They have plenty of options, and since they aren't very well known for this, they might not be booked yet. Another option would be Sams or Costco meat and cheese trays with bread, and veggie trays. They are very cost effective, and tasty! Good luck- not really very much time they gave you!
