Marriage & Divorce - 8 July 2007

I am a professional man. I would like to know what people think, because I don't think there is a right answer.

Assumptions:
1. This is not first marriage, so all that sacredness about marriage for life is moot in a way.
2. I make 10 times the woman, say 400K vs 40K.
3. I am willing to pay for all her expenses (everything except for her childen's luxuries, say private music and athletic lessons) while she's with me, for her to keep all her income, spend her income as she wants, say for her children's lessons.
4. But if she and I are divorced, I don't want her to take half of my savings while we are married. I propose 0-10%.

What do you all think?

The reality is although we all don't want divorces, but it will happen. Why get married? To enjoy each other as much and as long as possible. But I am not asking for any moral lessons or the sanctity of marriage, just am I unreasonable with my prenuptial financial plan?

My husband is 11 years older then I am (he is 40 I am 29)..We have had a pretty good marriage however, lately he has completely closed up. He is ALWAYS in a bad mood and acts like he is disgusted to be around myself and our 3 year old boy. I keep the house clean, cook, take care of our son, work, and run to stay in shape. What gives? I have asked him and he continues to make excuses (too tired, long day at work, etc.) If he is unhappy why doesn't he just leave? I don't need him to stick around and make me feel like I am doing something wrong. I can't sleep or eat and I feel like I am walking on eggshells with him. I am so over it! Please help!

My husband has yelled at me, cursed at me, thrown things at me and around the house. He has told me to shut up, and F*** in anger. (I understand that I should leave him pleae don't remind me of this.) But I ask him why is he still here (he seems un happy, doesn't he?). He says to me nonchalantly "because I love you.". I want to know WHY is he staying here, or keeping me around? Is is becausae of sex, control, power, or is he waiting for another girl to come along first? I have noticed lately that he is working out taking muscle miland pills. He tells me he needs to be a role model for those at work USMC. He is fixing his credit report, finishing up his college classes....but he he talks down to me, yells at me, tells me to shut up in agruements, he does not try to be romantic with me anymore.. I want to know from guys out there, why is he keeping me around? Any ideas? He says he loves me, I think after he fixes things with himself he will drop me. Am i right?

we have been married for 20 yrs. during first 3 yrs my husband was still in contact with his exgirl (with the help of his family members). i left him at one point and within a week she had moved in and was living with him for about a month until we decided to try and make it work; i found out about 6 months ago that his family still speaks with her. matter of fact she is a close family friend. i am furious and very insecure about this. my husband does not think it is a big deal. it is causing a large problem in our relationship. i am even considering splitting up. i am tired of his family causing problems and i am tired of him not coming to my defense with them. he thinks i am being stupid to make a issue over this. am i?

I am a european and i married a Bengali man recently. Before he was so nice and loving. After the marriage registration i had to go back to europe for a few months. This is when the nightmare begun. He started suspecting me in cheating with other men, i am sick and tired of answering the same questions. he`s like deaf. He even became very abusive. Calls me a *****. Even before i left India a couple of months ago- he even hurt me phisycally.
More than anything in my life i want to divorce him now. I can`t believe i was so stupid to marry him. Can anyone tell me whether it`s possible to file for the divorce and divorce without travelling to India? how much time and money would it take? I would appreciate it a great deal. I can`t live thinking i will not be able to divorce him ever. please, help me.

my husband has not been paying any of the bills,he spends all his money and says he doesn't know where it goes, he doesn't like to have sex ( he says he is at that age 48?)he does what he wants when he wants to and has no care about how I feel or what I need.
I have told him I want to go to therapy with him to work it out but he says it is me and I am depressed.
Heck yeah i am depressed why shouldn't I be.
But the question... I need some loving and someone who makes me feel like the woman I am, should I look outside the marrage for this, kicking him to the curb is easier said than done and he won't go willingly.
So what is a girl to do???
help me out.

My Husbands Grandma has been making some rude comments towards me when no-one (except my 6 year old son) is around.
First rude comments about All-a-Dollar (you can read more in my other Questions) well those comments stopped after I confronted her about it but now she is at it again!
Yesterday as I was walking into her bathroom, She started asking me questions about toilet paper for 5 mins. or more.
Asked me well actually told me to wipe once and if I don't feel clean enough get a wet wipe to use. I was appalled because to me you don't ask someone how they wipe and why they use alot of toilet paper (which I don't, She thinks that I use it all but when she has 8 or more guests over and everyone is going to the bathroom....get my point) and then tell them what to and how to wipe instead! I don't get it she is the richest person in our family and she's complaining about toilet paper!
I did offer to bring my own, but I still don't know how to handle this.... Any Ideas?

I was divorced back in July last year, and met and fell head over hills in love with a woman since then. She is also in the middle of a divorce. We are so much alike and have a wonderful relationship. Do you think it is too early to be talking about marriage already? We both love eachother dearly and want to be together. My boyfriend has just asked me to marry him and i've said yes..but i'm having doubts.

He doesn't seem like the person to keep promises or commitments-I don't know why he asked me to marry him because he seemed to ignore me the past few days, seem uninterested in me and his sex drive level has gone way down.

And then out of the blue he just popped the question.

He seems more interested in a girl at work then me- he is always talking to her, always talking about her, always telling me she is pretty, always talking about how smart she is, and he even invited her over for dinner and they acted like I wasn't there. I up and left the table and neither of them noticed.

He even said that her boyfriend just broke up with her and she was available.
Now all he does is invite her over and make her dinner and "comfort her". One night I found a long blonde hair strand (my hair is brown) and smelled perfume (wasn't mine) and one high heel under our bed. That wasn't my high heel.

met him on the web im with h im now we love eachother like we were ment to be together i fit into his world so easily he has two wonderful kids we all get along wonderfully we are thinking of getting married i need to go to out of town to do some things first but i dont want to leave him here and he has to go to work what am i going to do he cant e ven be out of the room thats too far away i love him more than i have ever loved anyone even the one i married i have to finish the divorce first before i can do anything else can i do it long distance

Many of you have told me my husband is abusive..he has yelled at me, thrown things at me,cursed at me, thrown things across the room, told me to shut up,etc.....many people say that abusers feed off of power. I want to take this away or back from my husband. He can be degrading with me and sacrastic with me as well. I want to make changes while i'm here in the home...How can i keep him from feeling power over me? I have thought of ignoring him, working out, getting a second job, finishing my degree. We have been in a relationship on & off for 2 years. We got back together four months ago and he was a changed man for the better, However the past few weeks we have been rowing over silly things. We love each other and planned a life together. We had yet another silly argument over him cancelling our date to go out with his mates and he left me. He wont return my calls or text's and is putting all the blame on me. He has gone from wanting to Marry me to not wanting to speak to me ever again in 24 Hours. I have been with my husband for 5 yrs. In this time he has yelled at me, thrown things at me, hit things across the room, cursed at me, driven receklessly, he has told me to shut up, and has said "F*** You.". He even said that based on sex alone he doesn't know if he would ask me to marry him again (my sex drive is much lower than his). He has acted out in such abusive ways to me and behaves this way in arguements or disagreements, and i asked him why does he stay with me? He said becuase he loves me. I don't think he loves me. How can a man treat a woman like this and feel he loves her? If he does not love me i just wish he would leave. Can someone please tell me why doesn't he leave? How can he tell me loves me treating me like this? Is this relationship just about power and control? I need some advise here....

I met my fiance a little over 3 years ago. shortly after we got together he told me that he was working on getting a divorce. i thought to myself, ok, no big deal, this will only take a few months to get that taken care of. as of june 2007 we have been together for 3 years, we also have a 20 month old little girl together. i am starting to wonder...why hasnt he taken care of his divorce yet...he claims it money, but there have been several time that money wouldnt have been an issue. i have often heard, why pay for the cow when you're getting the milk for free. i do love him, but im starting to wonder, why hasnt he taken care of the problem yet? i need advise on what to do, should i leave, should i stay? should i say something? i dont know.
