Family - August 2007

My brothers were adopted two years ago (just found out) I want to talk to them see them or write. Is there any way I can do this. The case worker has changed and I don't know who it is now what can I do. I'm 24 and there 6 and 11.

My daughter is 15 and was living with her father up until a few weeks ago. He had custody of her since she was 10.

She is now forced to stay with me because he moved due to job reasons and does not want her to stay with him in an apartment alone since he works late.

She leaves me notes that "I suck at making decisions a lot." and keeps telling me that "I ran away for 5 years" so she has a right to talk to me how she wants.

Does she have a point?

I have a cousin who greatly admires me. I'm 14, she's 10. We're completely different people, and whenever she's around I get sick of hearing about how her boyfriend broke up with her (ya, and I don't even have a boyfriend yet!), and how she just adores shopping. I don't even understand how she likes me, I don't care about my looks, and I barely shop at brand name stores! I don't mind that she looks up to me, it's just that she is always phoning wanting to hang out with me. Her parents leave her with her grandparents to look after (Her grandparents are basically her parents), and they can only do so much to keep her entertained! The thing is, that when I try to tell her I don't want to hang out with her, she wont take the hint! At first I tried to be subtle about it, telling her 'I'm going out with a friend.' But now, I just say I really don't want to and she still doesn't get it! I've even told her grandparents to get her to stop calling, but that hasn't worked either. Any suggestions?

I started dating this guy since I was16and I believe thats when I lost my personality.As years went by, he started putting me down...telling me I dress , act and look like a child...I do have a baby face but I happen to be proud of it....Then I have a parent who likes to tell me what to do...like what kind of undies I should wear ( I love thongs and she doesnt so she always advices me to wear undies that reach my belly button! )...how to do my hair...she prefers when I wear it down....she hates when I wear spaghetti straps all the time..I like to dress casually..I dont like to overdo anything unless im going out somewhere important...she hates the fact that I dont like earings...I mean hellooo?? I thought i was suppose to grow and find myself! My bf is 5 yrs older than me so he was way more mature when we met ..Thus, I havent really gotten a chance to mature .We're still together and he criticizes me and I feel myself beggining to conform! I have a good job making good money. I am able to pay most of my bills by myself, however, I can't really afford anything extra that I want, like new clothes and cable. The reason is because I am always lending my sister money. She has 3 children, and no job. She uses the money she gets for my nieces and nephew to pay bills. That money is not sufficient enough for all four of them to live on, because she is always asking to borrow money from me to get food, or for electricity. At first, I was glad to help, because they are my family, and I don't want my nieces and nephew to go hungry. But she borrows money from me everytime I get my paycheck, or any money, and this has been going on for almost a year. She pays me back, but she turns around and borrows again, so it's like I never really get my money back. Well..
i just turned 16 about 1 month ago.
And i today my friends car broke down, and he brought a kid with him to school. So i had to take 20 mins to jump his car, and his dad called telling him he had to get home. Tim his friend had no other way home, and I decided to go ahead and bring him with me, along with Derek a kid i bring regularly.
We went to Quik Trip, and on the way out my dad happened to pass right by me and stopped "asked what i was doing", and just gave me one of those horrible looks. And drove off.
Im at home now, waiting 4 him to get here.
What should i do?

I'm a freshman in highschool.
I am Christian, (so not muslim..)
and my dad won't let me wear anything above my knees (so no shorts, short skirts...etc)
on TOP of that, i cant wear tank tops or spagetti strap shirts.
i live in southern california,, so it is really hot.
like 105 degrees.
what should i tell my dad to convince him to let me wear stuff like that.
he says he wants me to be 'conservative'

hi, just wondered if anyone could tell me what rights my sons father has!? basically i left him 10 months ago due to him sleeping around and got voilent after drinking, which at the time he did all the time as we managed a public house. In the ten months he has given me very very little money forwards our sons up bringing and very rarely makes an effort to see him. just recently he has started seeing someone else and wants to be able to have days out with my son and his new girlfriend. I have no intention of letting this happen, as can not guantee his going to bring him home again afterwards. where do i stand as to not let him have him alone. would this be legal??

A few minutes ago I was tying my 2 yr old sisters shoe. I was a little annoyed because I'd heard her screaming all day and I was fed up with it. So I said that I was gonna bite her. To make a long story short, I touched her finger to my tooth and she starts SCREAMING. I didn't hurt her at all. So my mom calls be a b*tch and she says how much everyone hate me and how I'm a loser and such. I don't know what to do. I cannot stand her. I want to move out. The only problem is I'm only 16. This is regarding my 21st birthday...I just turned 21 about a week ago, and of course that means legally drinking alcohol. Now I'm not looking to get drunk every night or something, but there's a lot out there to taste and I like how alcohol brings out the flavor in food. Anyway, my family, everyone around me it seems is looking down on me for wanting to buy alcohol at all. Why? I mean is it bad for me to do that or what?

Im 16 and im a junior, I have a car that my sister gave me. however, my parents wont let me drive to school until i have a way to pay for gas, but they wont let me get a job until i pay my dad back the 350$ i owe him for the tires. also my mother plans to make me ride the bus for the entire first semester, im 6'2 and i dont fit on the damn bus so i usually arrive at school with a headache and a considerable amount of pain in my legs from being crammed in a bus seat. i have explained all of this to them but all i get is "well, it could be worse" help?

I'm pakistani, husband is indian (not a huge interracial mixture there!). My only living grandparent talks to me but has never uttered a word to my husband. In fact, when he enters the room, she won't even look at him. She puts down his race all the time (not in front of him). I am having my 1st child in a few weeks and I can't help but to be angry towards her. I know she's old and older ppl are bitter (she's always been a pessimest), but I wouldn't want my future children to be hurt by some ignorant people's actions. Its to the point where 'should i let it slide and still be good towards her cuz i know she's negative since i've known her my whole life' or 'should i stop talking to her altogether out of resentment'. Already I keep it very minimal with her and hardly conversate w/her because I can't hide my feelings. My husband's the sweetest person and despite her actions he doesn't complain. I can't help but to feel angry. Any advice on what I'm doing is right/wrong?

I was surfing the net looking for some expert (or experienced mom) info on the cost of raising children, and happened upon a site I found rather interesting. The site for and about moms who are single. A place to vent about their ex's who were either not paying child support or ex's who ran off and created another family. I found it nice to see a place where you could rant a little (all the women were respectful and breif with their rants) AND get some mental support, and not be critcized.

One of the entries surprised me though. A woman said in her post that her mother had waited to have children. She chose to be a single mom. She waited till she had an excellent career and was able to afford children. The women then went to to blast the moms who were venting, saying that they made a choice to have kids with the men they were married to and that they needed to quit complaining.... She said divorce is almost a way of life and that they should have been prepared...

I am 23 years old and have been living on my own since 19. I work full time and go to school part time 3 classes. I pay as I go so I'm pretty broke. In order to finish school earlier I want to pick up 2 summer classes but cant afford it. My mom offered that I move back in with her so I can afford it. She lives by herself and has a good size house. I would like to know how much rent you pay if you live with your parents over 18 y.o. or how much you charge your son or daughter or how much you think my mom should charge me? By the way, I am very clean, very responsible and would hardly be there since I stay so busy. However I do have a good amount of furniture that I have to bring from my appartment. Honest answers please! thank you for your input!

so, i know my parents are going through a tough time. my dad's job is on strike and my mom is med. disabled. income is low, and my dad's parttime job isn't cutting it. they can't pay the bills (and won't let me send money) and try as they might they can't sell their house. i know they're going under, but my mom takes it out on me. every time i call with good news she seems to care very little. and when i ask her about it she throws up in my face that she's obviously not in a happy mood with everything that is going on. i feel bad for my parents but if they don't let me do anything how can my mom keep yelling at me about things i can't control? i just feel like not calling anymore because all of our conversations end in an argument. she's even started calling me stupid! mind you i'm a college student and an armed forces veteran. i don't percieve myself as being stupid, and i'm sure most others wouldn't. i'm just at my ropes end and don't know what to do anymore.

Okay...my dad hasn't been in my life growing up nor the rest of my siblings. Since my sister is 9 years older than me he treats her like a freaking queen in terms of buying everything for her. In short, to explain how he is, he has told my oldest sister that if he could do it all over again he wouldn't have kids, he has come into her work with me there and not seeing me for a year and walks right past me, but explaining later that he doesn't know what to say to me so he'd rather not say anything. He is very pyshco ( he'll call the family seprately trying to figure out what everyone is doing to see if he can catch someone in going to a party). See my mom lets him come to family functions: parties, christmas, etc...but us kids don't care if he comes because he is, seriously, pyscho. He just does random things that you wouldn't think a stable person would do....So anyways moving on to my question: (wait I have to go to add more details..)
