Make her feel young for one thing explain all the things that she has done (her accomplishments and stuff) and maybe take her to a spa (to relax because from what you say she worries alot and is tense). Plus, you can give her a locket she can wear and put your family's picture in it so she could carry it everywhere with her.

When my dad turned 50, it was kind of a big deal for him too. I bought him a little wooden plaque that said "50 isn't old if you're a tree" and it brought some joy and lightened him up a bit. Buuut, I don't know your mother, and she might actually hate that. Take her out to an unusually fancy dinner where she can dress up and look pretty! Some kind of enjoyable activity that might remind her of being younger, something fun for HER. Dancing?

Depends what ur mother is like. My mum is well into her jewellery so for her 50th i got all my brothers to chip in to a really nice bracelet. My mother in law is very into looks etc, so we all chipped in for a £100 voucher for a beauty salon. She loved it. Or a professional photo done of all her children or a lovely necklace with a pic of u inside and a nice engraving. Hope this helps.

Here is an idea, take her out with few of her best friends, to Chippendale's or a similar place when hot looking guys will dance for her, that will be a great birthday to remember.
Don't listen to people who always said oh go out to dinner,
Come we eat everyday, why is so special about another time. and don't forget a nice gift like something she wouldn't buy for herself, and that is so personal nobody can tell you what. pay attention on what she like, make her feel young how about Victoria Secret?

How about a vacation? Especially since she's sensitive that she is gettin' older. You and other family members can put ur money together to send her to a nice resort or on a cruise. If i was 50 that'd make me feel better lol

Day at a spa with the full treatment. Get your dad to go into it with you. Your mothers life is just beginning, she'll figure it out in a couple of months.

Just get her something that she will really use, or is needed. I have given my mom things like kitchen appliances, organizational things, jewelry, blankets, towels, or even clothes if you trust yourself to pick for her. you could also always get something like a nice gift certificate to a salon or spa- something that might make her feel a little more young again- without rubbing it in her face.

tell her to write down all the things that she would like to do, and tell her she is still young enough to do them. would she like a facial. or a voucher to get her hair done.what about a week end away, buy her something that she will enjoy, not something for the house. is she in to music, would she like to go to a concert.how about going out for a special dinner. go shopping with her and pick out something trendy and youthful. happy birthday to your mum.
