You probably know in your heart that you are not going to get the money back. Gambling is an illness, so what is more important to you? the 2K? or the possibility of falling out with your sister over a sum of money that you can afford to lose? Your Sister needs help and support so please be there for her but don't give her any more money even if she tries the emotional blackmail.

difficult one really, she is your sister, i dont earn much at all but i always share with my family. My mother and I pass tenners and twentys back and forth to each other regularly without ever asking for them back ( and we are skint), make her get help with the gambling and maybe she wont be asking you for money again.... whats worth more ... her as a sister OR the money.

It's silly giving money to someone addicted to gambling... it's like giving an alcoholic a crate of scotch. I would write off the money.

That money is GONE and don't expect it back.
Gambling is an addiction.
Any money you give to her is going to feed her addiction.
If she really needs money... utility bills, groceries, gas... gove her a plastic gift card for each of these things... that way she can't hijack the money to feed the addiction.
At some point you will have to get it across to her that she needs professional help to beat this thing.

Kiss it goodbye. Never loan anyone money unless your willing to just give it as a gift because you wont get it back. I find it hard to believe you loaned money to someone who has a gambling problem.
Just tell her she doesnt have to pay you back.
