Family - August 2007

My 3 year old son is abusive to his 8 year old brother. We've tried everything that i could think of to make it come to an end but so far nothing has worked. The 8 year old knows that the 3 year old is smaller and he will not hit him. It is really becoming a problem and he is starting to lose his temper a little more now than before. I want this to end before the 8 year old really does blast off. Any suggestions?

Well, the other day my mom gave me this speech about how important it is for parents to raise their children to be an individual and learn to stand on their own two feet. She knows I am different and unique and I see everything in a completely different perspective. Such as, I asked her if I could get my nose pierced, she said if I brought home As and Bs this next school year. Well I come to find that this verbal agreement we had made, she was not going to follow her part. So then today I ask her if I can get my Traguses pierced. She said no, because her answers was because I am too beautiful. I told her that wasn't enough reason to say no. My best friend has had a couple of talks with my mom and has basically said in a nutshell that when I turn 18 and am out of the house I am going crazy. Which I have no doubt I will.
It's a piercing, I will care for it. And it will close up. I think its stupid, do you.
By the way I'm 16.

since my sister passed away in january my whole family has let it go but i just cant. every day i still cry over it, only my friends have seen me cry though, non of my relatives have so they dont even know i was ever sad about it. i think about my little sister every day and i cant find closer, please help. every day its like im hiding behind my smiles and positive attitude

My son 19 just moved out on his own, and i am kindof happy for him. He graduated from HS, has a good paying job, and is going to take online courses for college. I helped him built trust in himself since he did not believe in himself since my divorce from his dad years ago, and made him belive that he is not the looser his father thinks he is. I was hard on him most of his life, so he could be the best man he can be once he is on his own two feet. He now is happy to be out on his own and I am happy for him. I should feel sad that he has moved out today, but I am not. maybe a little, but more happy for him so he can really learn what it is like to stand on your own two feet. Is it wrong of me not to feel the empty nest snydrome? He has not been the most responsible kid with having ADHD, but I think that this will help him to learn responsibility. Am I feeling the right way as a mom? I am sure that it will hit me once I come back into his room tomorrow and see it empty.

I still have no idea how to find my birth father. I've tried some of the things i was told that would be helpful like joining Classmates.com to try to find him, and nothing, no answers at all.. anyone have any ideas on how to find him, all i know is that his initials are probably JP and i have a picture of him, so any way you can tell me how to find him that's be great. i cant ask my family, they like hate him for some reason, but i'm also begining to wonder if he even knows i exist.. i have been wanting to find him for a long time, and i've been trying, but nothing seems to be working.. so yea, any help/advice you can give me, i'd greatly appreciate it.

my cousin just got sent off to reform school.
he decided it was time to get his life in order. he wrote me a letter apoligizing for being a bad role model 4 me, and he promised to come back changed. he explained to me why he quit school and told me im too smart to follow in his footsteps.he said he expects great things for me and when he gets back he'll work a full time job and try to earn back respect he lost from his family. idk if he really will change. he has said this b4! im worried he'll go back 2 hanging out with his old friends and fighting and dipping and doing drugs again....i am really worried about him. do u believe ppl can really change?

Everytime I get on the computer my dad comes running in here to see what im looking at.....He's never in here untill I come in here and get on the internet....Then he comes in seriously every 2 minutes and hovers over my shoulder...I asked him why he does it and he got all mad at me...If I was going to look at porn I think I would have the smarts to do it when he was gone.So why does he do it???

Hi, my name is danielle and ill be 13 in 3 days. heres my problem. I did one of the stupidest things in the world..... i didnt bring family first.

A few days ago i went to the movies with my BFF and my cousin. My cousin and i got into a fight about that dancing game DDR how we are better than eachother and stupid stuff. She got pissed ran away and i told her fine! find your own ride! which was one of the stupidest things i could have done. She told my dad and my dad started yelling at me for doing that stupid thing, he was yelling so hard i cried fro an hour! i went upstairs an called my cousina nd told her how sorry i was and we were friends again. The bad part is my family is going on vacation in exactly one week and my dad said my punishment will be not to go on vacation, he even told my brother to cancel my reservation! what do i do!?!?! i cant call him because my dad will start screaming and make me cry. I also have a feeling he wont come to see me on my birthday! Please help!

I've been trapped in the house for days since I don't have a car or license and my mom works long hours so she just comes home and crashes my aunt is staying with us and she goes with my mom to work so I'm stuck here all day with my brother and cousins... I can't go anywhere with friends because...for some strange reason... my mom doesn't want me going out when she's not home... but my brother doesn't even ask and he goes out... so anyways the other day I fell asleep after being trapped in the house for 2 days straight for about 3 hours because I was bored out of my mind... when I wake up my mom and aunt are home... I walk past my aunt towards the bathroom and she says something like "nice" sarcastically I can't quite remember but it was something really bitchy. Then my cousins are all being jerks about it and saying stuff... now today my mom made it a specific rule I'm not allowed to fall asleep until 10... which is ridiculous and pointless since I usually go to bed around 11 anyways

My sis had a baby last August, we had a good relationship until then, sharing secrets etc.
Now she is ignoring me and my other sister, who is similarly upset. She never calls, but expects me to call her - my Mum helps her out a lot for free, and gets flak from my sis if she doesn't put her first. When I was ill last year my sis kicked off because my Mum was supposed to go and help her that day. I was ill and was about to go away for a week. She needed help with the baby. To her, she was more important.
I find this selfish and want it to stop.
What interests me most is that my sis was the world's biggest critic of other parents, before she was one herself. I was an observer of other parents, not really wishing to condemn them. Now she is the world's biggest hypocrite.
I want to do something about it but talking to her is not the answer. She is not receptive and never apologises for anything she does. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks in advance

I have been married for over 3 years and during that time I have encounted so much grief and agony over a evil stepchild and my husband's exwife. They are horrible people. We have been in and out of court for restraining orders, fighting over this and that and it is miserable. She is now on her 3rd marriage in 3 years, so you get the picture. She expects everything to go her way all the time. Her child (husband's with her) is downright horrible. He is disrepectful and rude. He has even threatened to shoot me and he is only 7. Now she is on her 3rd marriage and doesn't want to deal with him anymore, so now he wants to come live with us. My answer is no way. He is not even allowed to visit. My husband goes other places with him and doesn't bring him around. Will this ever stop and am I wrong to hate them both.

My brother is soooo annoying. He never knocks, he kisses my posters of Miley Cyrus, He never keeps promises, and when I want to go in the pool, he says, I don't want to, so I can't get in the pool in 90 degree weather. Then, last night he wanted to go in, I didn't want to, so he threw a fit, I said "How does it feel?" and I got in trouble!!! He is my younger brother and he is 9 and I am 11. What should I do???

i have a room in an upscale health club (my aunt & uncle own half) but i have 2 pay $400 a month 4 the room!!! i have 2 buy my own sheets, etc...

my parents (divorced) won't help me w/my bills cuz they say that since i'm living at home & they buy my food, pay my car insurance (car is paid off)& school loan i should be able 2 pay my bills. I'm only working PT, going 2 massage school FT & totally stressed. my gas card is $400 & i can't pay it, i'm afraid my credit will B ruined. i only have about 2k in my trust fund, but i'm saving that 4 something special and my parents say i have 2 use it. my grandparents only give me $20 a week 4 gas. i also do about 5-7 massages a week, but i don't get very much. i'm working as hard as i can!

i just feel like all my friends get 2 go 2 college and their parents help them. my parents don't understand how hard things R. i never get to have any fun & i'm only 18. can someone please help me get through to them?

Although my mother in law and my brother in law have always been very loving with my daughters, since my sister in law, who used to live abroad, is back in town they have started to leave my daughters aside. They tell us how they invite our nieces out and take them to special places without inviting our girls. At fist I didn’t mind and thought it was just because they had recently arrived, but this situation has continued for more than six months. Now I find it rude and hurtful when we always invite everyone when doing something special and have all of them in our house very, very frequently. My name is Aidan, and I'm a 24 year old guy. I come from a partially Scottish-American family, so, Aidan being a classic Scottish name, that is what my parents decided to name me.

I have always had trouble with my name. For as long as I can remember, people have been spelling my name wrong (Aiden, Aden, Ayden, Adin...). You'd be surprised how many different ways people have managed to spell my name.

Recently, it's gotten MUCH worse. Since, for the past five years or so, parents have been naming their kids variations of Aidan, I've been getting more and more trouble with my name. The misspellings have got even more frequent and outlandish (A co-worker wrote 'Aediyn' on a note directed to me last week).

Let me get to the point here: I am fed up with my name. I want to be called Dan, an abbreviation of my name, but I don't want to upset my proud family. Does anyone have any advice to help me break the news to them?
