My daughter is turning 12 in a week, and I ordered a Pentax 6 MP digital camera for her. Cost new 169 but I got a factory repackaged refurbished one for 70.

She was hoping for one of those DS lite systems so she could play the new pokemon game coming out. I felt this would be too much for a birthday at that age and would be more appropriate come christmas time.

I am sure she will be happy with the camera, but I imagine that if I was her age I would much rather have the game.

The kids have a Wii that they play and an older gameboy advance so they are not without.

I was thinking of letting her pick out a carrying case after the gift to make it more personal to her and get her a little excited. And/or maybe a photo book to go along with it.

We are going to Acadia National Park this summer, and i thought this would really be a fun present for her on trips. she has an old beat up 1 MP from about 4 years ago that i picked up cheap for $40.

we both work fulltime and equally pay the bills.He has no "yardwork" to do as we live in a condo.He gives me a hard time when i ask him to help me get groceries and says it does not take 2 of us to shop.He would never think to throw in a load of laundry(he knows how). I have to "remind" him just to take the trash out like 3 or 4 times(i even put it by the door)then he will say well u can do it too.Now i do most of the shopping,cleaning,laundry,cooking ect.I even pick his kid up(1st marrage) from school and bring him to our house whenever i can.To make matters worse he leaves his mess(dishes,clothes,ect) laying around the house.I don't know why he does this as he will complain when he feels the house is dirty but will leave his stuff laying round for days.

he came here from NJ and he is constantly telling me i'm fat[like 10 times a day!] and im not even that fat im just a little chubby and i know that, but it really annoys me and hurts me that he tells me and ive told him this and he doesnt understand..what should i do, what should i tell him without being disrespectful?

oh and please no mean comments like maybe you should loose weight, iget enough of that with him?

hi, i need help with my brother. i think there is really something wrong with him. i'm 16 years old and he's 18, in his first year of university.
he is extremely, just WEIRD. he has started to annoy me on purpose but in the WEIRDEST of ways since he left my school. he doesn't have anything better to do and it annoys me SO MUCH.
things he does::::
1. when i'm in my room, he tries to come in ALL the time. it forces me to forcefully push the door back with like all my might. he is relentless.
2. when he gets in he jumps on my bed and sleeps on it... he knows i don't like germs/ other disgusting people like him in my bed.
3. he does the same to my sister except he likes her so he's um nicer. but still we both HATE IT.
We've tried to discuss this with our parents but he won't stop. he gets VIOLENT sometimes and has hit me various times. it is scary and it seems he cannot control his anger. he also talks in a weird girly voice.like "im goin in ur room". around his friends,he acts NORMAL.

I recently found out exactly 4 days ago that my dad had cheated on my mom like about a yr ago. My dad to me is everything and of course I adore my mom but since I got played on & I was the last person to know I don't want my mom going through the same situation; but then again I asked my mom what would happen if she found out my dad had played on her & w/out even studering she said that she'd divorse him because he was too old to be doing tat & now I feel worse and I don't know what to do. To top it off I had a baby boy 4 mos ago and they r crazy about him and they seem happier I mean they r parents of 5 and grandparents of 4 so I don't understand why he would do something like this? any advice would be appreciated:)

Im worried about my father N law ( in 70s ) i have no contacs much with him, count of karrie ( my sister n law ) she & my Brother INLAW lives with him, My father n law is Quiet, & hes tired of our disputes, I want PEACE & QUIET FROM HER BIBLE THUMPING CRAP, she thinks if i go to gay Parades,Im going to hell, See, she Obssed with the church/ bible/ & thinks she the best, I cant get along with her, we tried & tried, Any ideas? i cant take it no more, im 54 years old, shes 29 years old

My dad is only 61 and is dying of emphysema, he and my 13yr old son are extremely close, and sometimes I think my son takes on the role of making sure his grandfather is ok.
I know it's not going to be long, how do I prepare him for this?

My Mom lives with us and she suffers from either dementia or alzheimers. She has occasions to where she thinks things are happening, such as we're moving, and has been known to venture outside while we're asleep, around 4 in the morning. My stress level is so high that I feel like hitting my head against a brick wall. This morning she made some statement for me to call her if the I needed help with the kids, and my kids are grown. I've told her Dr. and he doesn't have much of an idea as to what's up. I love her, but sometimes I feel like this is going to literally drive me crazy. Any suggestions? We don't want to put her in a nursing home.

My step dad has two kids, close to my age, been in family for over 7 years. We were great together for the first 4, then "dad" started pulling apart from me. Now he wont do anything with me or my kids and I cant do anything with my mom and her step kids. So I am constanly left out of activities, camping, hunting,etc. My feelings are hurt. Mom says she agrees its wrong, but wont do anything about it.I think Im losing my mom. im 30, but have no other family besides her and her "husband" and his kids. Im getting married next month and I dont think they will come, cant even invite my step bros cuz they have sided with their dad. Did I mention mom is wealthy, and I swear they are gold diggers. Do I sit back and watch my mom drop me for people that she has known for 8 years. Family is important to me, and I feel like I have no-one but my soon to be hunny. Thank goodness for him. I miss my mom and her attention. Do I grow up forget them?

My boyfriend's brother has moved back into town recently, and so my time with my boy is getting drastically cut. I'm afraid that I'm going to lose my "spot" that I have with him. How can I let him know without ostracizing him or his brother that I'm serious when I say that I don't want to be replaced? That he is not dating his brother? I've tried to say just that, but he kinda laughs it off....

I love that he's close to his brothers, but there comes a time when he needs to put his significant other first. We've been together for quite a while.

I also don't care much for his brother. He's a heavy drinker, doesn't know the meaning of fidelity, and is an overall ***. So, there's also other reasons I don't want my boyfriend to spend a ton of time with him. They always manage to either get into trouble or spend money that we don't have....

I was wondering if it would be easier to have my husband adopt my daughter or just legally change her last name to his.

Her biological father hasn't had anything to do with her since she was born and his name isn't on her birth certificate. She currently has my maiden name.

To do either without having to have his permission would I have to file abadonment against him or not?

Please, I want real helpful answers.

i am fourteen years old. My older sister always steals my things (makeup, clothes, etc) out of my room and then always denies it when i confront her about it! she always says my mom puts the stuff in her room or it was just there, but my mom knows the difference between my stuff and hers so why would she do that? plus she says she never put it in my sister's room. Also, how could my things just magically fly into her room? Then when i confront her she gets all angry and says awful things like i shoudl die and she hates me so much and she wants me to be dead. I'm just so frusterated and sick of her stealing my stuff and being so mean. What do i do?!!?!?!?!?

My 7 son year old son is just learning to swim. He will be in lessons this year. My mother just built a pool with a small section where he can barely touch, and the rest is very deep and very large. She watches my son every Friday while I'm at work. I know that my son and my 4 younger brothers and sister (12, 10, 9, 7, & 3 - adopted) will be swimming a lot.
Here's the problem - my mother is awful at watching children in the pool. She has a different view than I do on it. She walks away, sits down where she can't see them, puts a 10 year old in charge of watching 5 young children, etc. Now I'm in the situation that I have to not let my son go there on Fridays (which would hurt her feelings & make her mad), say that my son can't go swimming (which is impossible because there will be 5 other kids swimming) or ask my mom to watch him carefully (which she probably wouldn't do anyways & would be mad about).
What should I do?

I work with my boyfriend's step-mother who is 29. My boyfriend is 23 and his older brother is 28. I'm 21 and it makes ME feel awkward from time to time! How would you feel?
I was just curious to see how others would feel if they were in this situation.
Also, their father is 49.

alright, my stepmoter is a complete ***** to me. there is nothing she will not do to make me miserable. and i understand that plenty of young kids may think this, but i am not even overreacting. my dad is the sole provider for my family (five people) and he doesn't even make that much, but she still goes out and spends a crapload of money on clothes and shoes and food that she labels as hers even though there is barely enough for even us to eat!
not only that, but she will always twist a situation into her favor, no matter what it is.
alright..... here's is the hardest part of it all..... she has cancer now. i feel horrible and all and i cried when i found out, but recently, it seems as though she is even using THAT to get her way. she thinks that having cancer justifies the cruel way she treats her family
am i a complete heartless ***** for feeling this way about her even though she is my step-mother and has cancer and all

I was told all my life that my mother was dead. On a wed site 2 years ago I posted a small message looking for relitives. And found out she (my mother) was alive and well. Contacted her and we chatted on phone for almost 3 moths. Drove 10 hours to see her but now she refuses. My step sister doesnt help she hid her. Seriously, women was in Cardic Care after my step brothr beat the **** out of her and put her there. And when she found out I was coming to see here incase something happend I wanted to see her before something bad happened. My step sister moved her from one room to another and the nursed clammed up. By they way she works at same hospital. I personnel think F--k them. But my husband thinks I need closuer. Before I knew she was alive I would get depressed thining about her. Now that I know shes alive and never looked for me. I wasnt adopted. I dont have a desire to see her. Am I crazy?????

I have 2 girls under the age of five. I have moved to a new place, i am staying home with my daugthers. Why do women always have to think about family first? Is it worth it at the end. I don't know but i am doing the same thing many moms have done and are still doing. I recently rejected 85K job to raise my girls. I enjoy the process, but why do men never ever think of adjusting their work. My husband is a doctor/researcher, and in the entire discussion with him (about my job), i never heard once about his sacrifices.WHY????
