I work with my boyfriend's step-mother who is 29. My boyfriend is 23 and his older brother is 28. I'm 21 and it makes ME feel awkward from time to time! How would you feel?
I was just curious to see how others would feel if they were in this situation.
Also, their father is 49.

Oh, and their father and step-mother have a one-year-old little boy too. Just figured I'd add that little bit of info.

Wow, I never said I wanted to break the family up over it! I just said it feels awkward! My boyfriend and his brother are also awkward about it! How am I "stiring up trouble", as one answerer said, by asking how others would feel in this situation?

I'm not positive of my dad's girlfriend's age but I don't think she's all that much older than myself (I'm 25) and he's in his late 40's. Since they are both adults it doesn't really bother me. There's really nothing I can do about and since she is nice to my children and myself I really have no issue with her to begin with.

There's nothing wrong with feeling awkward about it.....I think it's understandable. Just try to see her for who she is rather than her age. Eventually, it probably won't make you feel as uncomfortable.

I don't have that issue with my mother or father (Im only 19, it would be really creepy if either of my parents were with a 20 year old...) But my father's step-mother is younger than he is... My dad is 43 and my grandfather's 3rd wife is 41... My grandfather is 64... They have been married for 15 years now and my dad's little brothers are 14 and 13... My dad was 28 when his youngest brother was born, and I was 6.

My dad is 52, he is married to a 34 year old, I am 32. I adore her, although I don't like to talk about sex issues with her (by the way, she and I were friends in high school) They have a 2 year old girl, a 1 year old girl and an 8 weeks old baby boy. It can get strange at times but ya just gotta roll with it.

Why let it bother you. Treat her as if she were you sister not your step mother. Except of course, when it comes to disciplining, and it would appear that the only person she is going to be disciplining is her own child.

How does your boyfriend feel about it? Obviously she is not going to feel motherly towards him any more than he is going to feel that she is motherly. They will probably just be friends. Hopefully he dad is okay with a woman 20 yrs. younger than he is -guys are like that, right. haha

I do not see anything wrong with it. I am 10 years older than my step son. He does not have a problem with it, and neither do I. He is your boyfriends father, not yours. You have no say in it. Actually, no one does.

I'd be ashamed of my father for picking someone young enough to be his daughter.
