Family - March 2007

I haven't spoken to my biological father for over 5 years. I had confronted him about something that happened in the past, he denied it and was upset that i confronted him infront of his wife(not my mother). He wasn't around much throughout my life...he denied his behavior and will not take my calls, returns b-day & father day cards (return to sender)...i hear that he is very sick(cancer)....what should i do, if anything? thanks for your help in advance.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said. "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

I wrote this poem for a family member who is about to die of cancer... I would like some unbiased thoughts before giving it to him. Feedback?



Slipping, in quiet dignity,
Yielding to black river’s might;
Still many gripped by morbid awe,
For somebody has died tonight.

Hushed whispers, their motley circle,
On fear and infamy they thrive.
Strangers bound by others’ despair
But what mind, were he still alive?

Driving alone under gray sky,
Light fading on a one-way street;
My mind drowned in melancholy
For promise we shan’t again meet.

This agony of consciousness,
The tragic place in which we stay,
Consumes my fragile heart; and yet
I knew him, on a better day.

frist i want to thank ppl who anwers my questions....ok frist let me see my child hood wasnt the best..i have had alot step dads come in out of my life i have been through alot people calling me dumb stupid even some family members .and now im at the point where when something bothers me i keep it in side.. i just dont say nothing and i build up and i just explode....and when i feel hurt me heart like literally hurts and my heart starts pounding really fast.. and then i get mad and start crying and throwing things.. and sometimes i want to run away or do something so that my family can feel the pain i havemy step dad tells me to count to 10 and stuff but its doesnt work..any help

My son will not talk to me ever since he got married. MY DIL has made numerous comments about me and my family. I have said nothing. It is obviuos when they did come and visit last year she did not want to be here, and they fought. I told him we wouls come over there for Xmas as I thought it would be easier for them w/ the new baby. My som informed me that if I want to see him, I have to ask his wife. My husband and I refused to ask wife wofe for permission to see him. They are now fighting with out other son. This is such a family mess. He will not talk to me and my heart is broken b/c I only see my grandson through pictures on the internet. I could really use help getting into a grandparent support group with ours who can;t see their grandchildren. It stinks to be the in-laws.

my father was never in my life since i was born he doesnt call me or anything he doesnt even know my birthday.. i guess the thing that hurts the most is he has other children and takes care of them but not me when im his real child..im not saying dont take care of them but what about me...Also i try to get over and get the nerve to call him but wheni do he never anwer or calls me back..i have a step dad and he is the best but i still think about my dad and wonder why he does this stuff but i can't get over it..i keep thinkin that something wrong with me.... is there?..how should i get over it???or can i

Ok I took some of the advice from previous questions. But for new comers here’s the story, my mom died when I was 8 I am now 15. Last year we had some neighbors move in to the house next to us. They have a family of six the mom and dad and 2 girls and 2 boys. Well I have been getting jealous of the two girls (10 and 12) because I see everything in their mom that I want in a mom. She takes them shopping a lot; she just sits and talks with them. I really want to be able to just sit down alone with her and tell her how I feel, but it never seems right. She has a family of her own to take care of. She doesn't need to be worrying about me. The neighbor’s mom offers to take me into town with her and her daughters almost daily when they are just running errands. I turn it down, I don't know why but I just do. I guess I just want her to figure out what I need but it's not gonna happen. So many people have been giving the advice “Go into town with her and her kids.”

a few months ago, i received a message on myspace from this guy asking me who the girl on my profile was i told him she was my cousin and he explained that she was his cousin too turns out he and i also go to the same school. he is not my biological cousin, but since he has no other cousins in the u.s. i didnt mind when he told his friends i was his cousin, things were ok at first although after a while he started butting in too much, once he told me that my bf was not good enough and we got into a huge arguement about that. then about a month ago when my bf and i decided to take a break, it seemed like my "cousin" took over me. now i have a performance on friday in which i wear a skirt and he is telling me im not allowed to do the dance because he will not let me. and he told me that when i want to put up a picture on my myspace i have to ask him first and i can only have 1 pic up. it is my life and im old enough to make my own choices, how do i tell him to back off w/out hurting him?

My brother is in the eighth grade, and he hangs out with a lot of freshmen and sophomore. When he and my dad weren't home, I went fishing through his messages and found that his girlfriend was doing the drug Ecstasy and went to the hospital. In a different message this girl knew he was doing drugs, and was saying how bad it was to him. He was saying how it makes you feel so good and that his friends have done it so many times and it doesn't affect them. I have been crying because I am so sad that he started drugs at such a young age. How do I tell my parents about it without them getting mad at me for going through his messages? Please help me.

She babysat my kids this morning for an hour while hubby and I went to an appointment. Never met her boyfriend until we came home to find his truck in front of our house. Hubby was too p!ssed to go inside so he dropped me off and went to work. So I had to face her alone. It'd be different if she would have told me first that he would be coming over, not for me to come home and find a strange man in my house. Not only that, he left with her in her car and left his truck sitting in front of my house all day! Hubby is not happy about it and says he will take it up with her later. She could've told us he was coming over. My son was sitting in his lap! Who cares if hes supposedly rich like she claims. Is that supposed to make it any better? What would you have done?

(Reminds me of all the movies and TV when the babysitter lets her boyfriend come over...but this time...*shiver...)

I have nothing against my MIL either...it just really un-nerved me today...

My mom and dad won't let me listen to music with the F-word. The only band that says the f-word is blink-182. Even still I can only have one of their cds. I have heard all of the swear words from family. I am trying to find a suitable way to approach my parents in a way that I sound mature enough to listen to explicit music.

Ok, well shes not my biological mom but shes more of a mom to me then my biologicaly one so i either call her mommy or mama, but here sister jsut had a miscarriage and she is so sad, it makes me wanna cry just seeing her that sad. How can i comfort her with out making her fee worse or making it akward?? Serious answers please

how is it decided in a family who can't leave home until younger sibs are raised ; or. until Mom and dad die so they are cared for in the comfort of home,. Some people seem to be expected to give up their own lives with marriage and children to be caretakers. Why? and Why, Why does the person comply ; always has puzzled me. is it more than emtional blackmail of a strong selfish person against a weaker one who is used?

I live in Pennsylvania and my parents are probably going to be divorcing soon. I'm wondering what are my rights concerning custody.

I am currently 14 years old (15 in July). I am wondering if I am of legal age to be able to choose which parent I have primary-full custody.

My mother moved out on my father and our family, and she currently lives in an aapartment. My best wish is that I still be able to attend my school, which will be possible if I stay with my father. I also dread spending any time with my mother, because I have so much anger built up on the fact that she left us. I have a feeling she will fight for me to live with her, but I honestly want nothing to do with her.

my ex girlfriend left the state with my daughter a little over a year ago! she won't let me see or talk to my daughter. i'm not ordered to pay child support so there's nothing legal! we were never married either! does anyone know anything about this? what can i do? is this legal what she is doing? i don't have the money to hire a lawyer! legal aide said that i make too much money for them to help me! i'm stuck. what should i do?

alright... so earlier my sis was on the computer for AT LEAST an hour and i told her i wanted to get on and she complained, but then i said i'd give her ten min. so when i came back i saw her type a message to the friend she was chatting with and it said "i g2g, my sis wants to get on" and the message her friend wrote back said "OMG you sister is so annoying she always wants to get online when we are talking I HATE HER!!!" and i don't even know this girl i don't kno what she looks like or ne thing! all i know about her is that my sister chats with her online ALL the time. and i think what she said was REALLLY rude idk what her parents have been teaching her but i think NO ONE should say this about anyone especially if they don't know them no matter how much they are gettin on your nerves.

and also, my sis spends waaaaay to much time on the computer its the first thing she does when she gets home from school.
