do you get paid?

I had to do that. I was the oldest and I had six younger siblings. My youngest brother (who just turned 18) was born when I was twelve and my mother started working again when I was thirteen. I did about thirty hours of week of free childcare a week for years. I had to give up a lot of carefree teenage activities to be my parents' live-in babysitter.

Now that I am 30, I realize that my parents totally took advantage of me. They never even said thanks and I only heard about what a good job I did babysitting when my parents felt like bragging to other parents.

Not only did I lose out on my childhood, I don't even want kids now because I hate the idea of being tied down.

You will never get to be a child again. So be sure to show this to your parents. If they still insist that you babysit, work out a payment agreement. You never agreed to do childcare and your work is economically valuable.

I did when I was a child (now I'm 26), and I never got paid, and I never expected to be paid.

as u've already placed this in a family category, isn't this a kind of family thing, n not a employer-employee thing? be caring towards ur siblings n all, u'll be loved.
