She babysat my kids this morning for an hour while hubby and I went to an appointment. Never met her boyfriend until we came home to find his truck in front of our house. Hubby was too p!ssed to go inside so he dropped me off and went to work. So I had to face her alone. It'd be different if she would have told me first that he would be coming over, not for me to come home and find a strange man in my house. Not only that, he left with her in her car and left his truck sitting in front of my house all day! Hubby is not happy about it and says he will take it up with her later. She could've told us he was coming over. My son was sitting in his lap! Who cares if hes supposedly rich like she claims. Is that supposed to make it any better? What would you have done?
(Reminds me of all the movies and TV when the babysitter lets her boyfriend come over...but this time...*shiver...)
I have nothing against my MIL either...it just really un-nerved me today...

Eve, you don't get the point. I've never met him before. I don't care about her personal life but she could've told me he was coming over so I knew what to expect when I walked in. Its nothing against her at all. I'm glad shes happy, its good for her, but its the same as a regular babysitter, you don't bring anyone over without telling the parents!

Totally inappropriate. She had no right to bring anyone to YOUR house without permission and she had no right to introduce YOUR child to anyone you don't know.
Don't yell or get in her face but make it VERY clear to her that she is not do that again. BTW: your husband was totally chickensh*t if he left you to deal with it.

I'm with you. She was out of line. You should never bring ANYONE male or female around someone's kids without permission. I know I would have felt the same way whether it was a bf or her bff.
BTW, rich people can be molesters, too. Rich doesn't mean moral or good-hearted. As a matter of fact, i find the opposite is usually true.

Hmmm
it's an invasion of privacy thing.
If you haven't met him before it's a bit rude for your mother in law to invite him over

Yeah, I would not be too happy either. He may be rich but he is also inconsiderate. At least your hubby is going to take it up with her.

This is totally out of your control. All you can do id figure out how you can forge an agreement about this matter if she wants to babysit again. If you need her more than she needs you, you are in a pickle and need to find alternate resources. Your husband is the one who needs to take it up with his mother—not you..

And I am presuming you were never alone in her house with her son. Hmmm. Payback. I'm thinking you should just learn to live with it.

I'd of tossed them both out on their asses and had that truck towed off of my property.

I honestly don't know why you and your husband are making such a big deal over this. If your mother-in-law loves him and she's a nice lady...be happy for both of them!
She is probably proud of you, your kids and her son! She just wanted to show him her family!! Little does she know she's being raked over the coals for it! I think it's a shame.
Don't fan this 'flame' with the son! He needs for his affection for mom to continue and she needs him!!
When we welcome 'newcomers' into our families, it makes for such good feelings. Why be so caustic!
This is also good for the children...to have more people to show them affection and attention.
I say lighten up...let MIL have some fun!! She is in love...don't spoil it!
Oh, and why so upset about his truck being in your driveway...wow, are you two touchy. Next time, ask him to park on the street or down the block...he won't mind!
