Family - March 2007

My mother in law lives about700 miles away .They still own a home here so are here every so often for a while at a time.As soon as I know she is coming I get chilles in my back.She critizes everything about my home,my children,the way I dress everything.When she is here my husband caters to her every want.I feel like it becomes there marriage and not mine please help.

How do all you mums cope when you go back to work?? I am starting work after 10years of being a stay at home mum. Just been working voluntary 4 my sons school for 4yrs.
I have been there for every play etc.... But i feel sick with worry,and cried tonight over it,its only p/time but ..............
Do you understand what i mean.
I have spoke to him and hes fine about it. And even though its only 4 days a week,and his grandad and aunt will look after him(sometimes he will be in school) i still feel bad!

My parents are divorced, I have never met my real dad(he's in another country) and I've lived with my mom and step-dad for 10 years (I'm19). First time I ever received a letter from my real dad was when I was 10, so we talked and then we lost contact for like 8 years.Recently, he's been trying to get in contact with me and started sending me e-mails and pictures, we havent talkedon the phone yet nor have I replied to any of his letters. I'm not very enthusiastic when it comes to talking to him, its like I dont care kinda thing. I dont hate him or hold resentment for him, I just dont think we have anything in common to talk about. Well, my mom has been pushing me to call him and reply to his letters. All of this kinda made me feel bad for him, do you think I'm being evil by not replying to him?

i live at home and go to college but my parents treat me like a baby ex: they freak out and blow up my phone sometimes even when i'm out or in class . how can i give myself more responsiblities unrelated to them so as to show them that i am infact capable of taking care of myself

i told my mom im signing the lease to my apartment tomorrow and she told me that im not moving out... i will be 19 in june and she is trying so hard to control everything i do. im an adult and i should be treated like one but she doesnt. is there absolutely anything she can even do to keep me here? i am for sure leaving i just dont want her to do something like call the police on me or something....
what is your advice?

When I found out I was preganant my mother-in law was so excited and it made me and my hunny happy that his parents were. Well my baby is 6 months old now and his mother will hardly even touch her. She's always faking arm injuries and tells me she cant hold her because her neck or her leg or her shoulder hurts. My baby loves her half to death....his parents wont even come visit us at our house.....and its only 3 miles away!!!!My mom says I should not take her over there anymore if they arent going to treat her with love..but i dont want to hurt my husbands feelings anymore than they already are.......oh yea my husbands sister is pregnant now and his mom quit her job 6 months in adnvance to take care of the baby after it is born while his sis works days......We havent done anything wrong....What do you think???

I have been with my boyfriend for 6 years and we plan to get married soon. We have no kids yet. His brothers have five kids combined. And his parents treat their wives better and show them more love and i think it is because they kids. They always implying we need to have kids. I feel like an outsider and I hate it. Is this worth me stressing over?

I have a son who is 14 years old and he has just annoyed me so much that i finally decided to step in. Instead of being mommys little boy he is mommys little girl now. I have bought him a bunch of girl clothe from a cheap clothe store in town. During the day when he is at school he has to only wear panties and a bra, but when he gets home its off with the boy clothe and on with the girl clothe. I am even thinking about buying him a wig to go with it. I have been doing this for 2 weeks now and he has been the best he has ever been. I probably will keep it up till he goes to college to make sure he doesnt become a pain again. Also to make the punishment worse is that during the night and on weekends he has to wear a diaper. During the week i make him take it off during the day for school, but on weekends he has to wear it and use it. I told him no toilet on weekends. He lets me change him and baby him. I want to hear about other parents who take similar actions when discilplining.

About 2 months ago my husband of 3 years lost his mother in a car accident. At the time I was overseas working on a business deal. He asked me to fly back but when I tried explaining to him that I had to stay for another 2 weeks to close this huge deal he hung up on me. He just doesn’t understand how important this deal was, he’s a dentist how could he? I've been back for 6 weeks now and things have been very strained between us. I hate this and if I can't make him understand I'll have no choice but to leave him. It’s not like he was alone; he was surrounded by family (father and 2 older brothers). He's civil enough but barely looks me in the eye anymore. He survived his mother's death without me just fine so why won't he just forgive me? My own mother died when I was 2 so it’s not like I can relate. I would have liked to have been there knowing how close they were and because she really was a great lady but I did what I had to do to get ahead . Why won’t he get that?

if i quit school she will kick me out the house

Iv borrowed money from my parents quite a few times since i started traveling, they aren't rich but aren't poor either. is it wrong to 'lend' or 'borrow' money when you know they wont ask it back in full. I fully intend to pay them back when i start earning decent money, i'm quite a generous natured person

My sister, 28, has 2 boys--1 and 2. Last August her BF left them. She has always had mental problems like depression etc. After he left she has been so low. She has a full time job and goes to school full time. I watch her children. I have her children on average of 14 hours per day--she is only with them at night and a few hours here and there. The boys are a handful but she is rough on them--yells, spanks, etc, and never just enjoys being with them.
Now, my problem is this: I love these boys like they are mine, but my sister and the baby's father say I have no right to the kids other than just to babysit. So, I need to distance myself from them I think. She has begun lying to me about where she goes and this morning she was suppossed to go to class but her teacher called and said she hoped she feels better--I have no idea where she is. I need a break but if I say something about the lies then she may keep the kids away or be mean to them. I'm so angry wit her. What do I do?

My mother (who is now 73) always tells me that the only difference between my late father and me is 30 years and gender. I take this as a compliment...he was my BEST friend and we did everything together and I miss him terribly (he passed away May 25th 2005). Not a day goes by that I don't wish he were here so I could tell him "something". I actually look like my mother the older I get....when I was a child everyone told me I looked liked my Dad...dark hair, dark eyes..and I definately have his warped sense of humor....but now, at 45, my features are starting to favor every other woman on my Mom's side of the family...which I don't mind because my Mom is quite pretty (even at 73) but I sort of miss people telling me I look like my Dad. Has anyone else experienced this?
