Iv borrowed money from my parents quite a few times since i started traveling, they aren't rich but aren't poor either. is it wrong to 'lend' or 'borrow' money when you know they wont ask it back in full. I fully intend to pay them back when i start earning decent money, i'm quite a generous natured person

Firstly, do you work? If you do and have little income, I suggest you spend within your means. If you can't afford to travel, then stay put.

However, if your family has the capacity to lend you money and whatever you borrow them isn't hurting them financially, I think it's not too bad to ask for support. They shouldn't shoulder ALL of your travel expenses though, only help you when you are short on cash.

Thirdly, you MUST intend on paying them if you asked for a LOAN. They probably give you money, because they know travelling will make you happy eventhough it might cause a strain on their budget a little bit.

Ok, if you're a boy scout asking money for camp, or a middle schooler going on a field trip to Washington DC then don't stress much on paying back your parents. You're too young to be worried about IOU's to your folks.

Well personally, I'd feel awful for doing that. Why are you traveling? For work or fun? If I were you, I'd wonder if I were putting any strain on the family-financially. If they aren't rich but not poor then maybe they're helping you but can't really afford it. All you can do is ask-see if it's hurting them. Another question: how much are you borrowing? Hundreds or more or just dollars heres and there?

If you don't have the money to travel then you shouldn't take the trip. You should continue working until you have the money you need to take the trips. Then it won't be an issue with reapyment of a loan. And you should pay it all back with a thank you dinner to them for fronting you the money. After all, it's their money, they earned it.

Yes, I think it's wrong.
Maybe because I've had to support myself since I was 17. I've done everything for myself. Always pay my rent, always pay my bills, always take care of my apartment.
I'm almost 23 now and I have enough money to occasionally travel or to buy myself nice things.
I don't get along with my mother and I don't know my father so if something ever happened to me, all I have is my own bank account.
I feel proud to know that I did so much for myself without any help and now have money to spoil myself like no one ever did.
So of course, this makes me a little partial to your question. But honestly, I doubt you feel proud about traveling with your parent's money. You were lucky enough to have both parents and to have them care about you and want to see you happy. I think that's enough and you shouldnt take advantage by having them pay for your luxuries.

sounds to me that your not relying on your mom and dad, your depending on them for money so you can travel and have fun because long before now you would have gotten any kind of job to pay them back in full.any job can be decent as long as you give 100% of yourself into it.

It's not your parent's responsibility to finance your trips. Make sure you pay them back, don't ever take advantage of them and their wallets.
